Easy WOL wakes up computers, servers, NAS drives and other devices that support Wake-on-LAN, with a single tap. An optional Ping feature shows whether each device is online in real time, so you can see the moment it wakes.
To wake a device on your local network, all you need is its MAC address. The app works out the broadcast address for your Wi-Fi network and sends a Wake-on-LAN (magic) packet to it. Your iPhone or iPad needs to be on the same network as the device you are waking.
You can also enter a target IP address manually. This can help if your router does not pass local broadcasts, when you are connected over VPN, and in some other setups.
To wake a device over the Internet, enter your router or firewall's external IP address or DNS name, and configure the router to forward WOL packets to your local network. Simple port forwarding is not always enough. You may need to forward UDP port 9 to your local broadcast address or add a static ARP entry for the device. Not every method works on every router, and some basic routers do not support this at all. Connecting over VPN is often the simplest and most secure option. Check your router's manual or the manufacturer's support for details.
Most modern computers support Wake-on-LAN, but you may need to enable it in the BIOS/UEFI and sometimes in the network adapter's driver settings. The app itself is very easy to use, although some networking knowledge may be needed to set up your devices, especially for waking over the Internet.
