- New: Read. A big idea every night, painted and explained in about a minute. Free. - The classics, explained: The Prince, Meditations, The Art of War, Letters from a Stoic, the Tao Te Ching and The Dhammapada, twelve ideas each. - Practice: tonight's talk, and a picture for every talk. - Journal: your decisions as a story, and a letter from your council every Sunday. - A simpler Council tab, and a new start that asks what brings you here.
Counsel puts history's great minds on your side. Read their big ideas and the great books, explained in plain words. Ask them about the choice in front of you. Then practice the hard talk before it happens. READ THE GREAT BOOKS - Tonight's read: a big idea every night, painted and explained in about a minute. Free. - The classics, explained idea by idea: The Prince, Meditations, The Art of War, Letters from a Stoic, the Tao Te Ching and The Dhammapada. Twelve ideas each, in three parts. - Every idea starts with the real story, then shows where it lives in your own week: work, family, money. - Facts are checked against the sources, and quotes come from public-domain translations. - Four collections: a quieter mind, power and influence, people and love, courage. PRACTICE THE TALKS YOU DREAD - Real situations at work and at home: ask for a raise, negotiate a job offer, tell your partner you're not happy, set a limit with family. - A mentor plays the other person. Pick Gentle, Realistic or Tough. - When a line works against you, a coach steps in with one tip, and you can try it again. - One-minute drills for the moments that decide a talk. ASK MENTORS FROM HISTORY - Say what's on your mind, in your own words. - A council of three to five mentors gives their view, each in their own way, or choose a practical approach. - Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Sun Tzu, Cleopatra, Machiavelli, Lao Tzu, Buddha, Eleanor Roosevelt, Lincoln and others. - Leave with one small step. Counsel checks in on how it went. - Tap the headphones to hear any answer read aloud. A RECORD OF YOUR DECISIONS - Write what you think will happen. When you check in, Counsel shows your guess next to what happened. - Your Journal tells the story of your decisions, and every Sunday your council writes you a letter about the week. WHAT IS FREE Tonight's read (a new idea every night), your first practice talk, the one-minute drills, the Journal and the Library are free. A new install can ask one question and read one mentor's full answer. The classics and collections, answers from your full council or an approach, more practice talks, the Sunday letter and listening need a subscription. YOUR DATA Counsel saves your questions, answers and journal on your iPhone. It sends what you write to an AI service only when you ask a question, practice a talk, or, with a subscription, for your Sunday letter. Reading sends nothing. You can export or delete your data in Settings. SUBSCRIPTIONS Counsel offers weekly, monthly, and annual auto-renewing subscriptions with the same subscription access. Prices and any eligible introductory offers are shown before purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation, or when an applicable free trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings. ABOUT THE ANSWERS AI writes the answers. The mentors draw on figures from history. They are not the people themselves. AI can get things wrong, so use your own judgment. Counsel is for reflection. It is not therapy, and it is not medical, legal or financial advice. It is not for emergencies. If what you write sounds like a crisis, Counsel shows you crisis support first.
