Roman time, to the minute. New in this version: • Sunrise, sunset and the Roman hours are now correct on the days the clocks change between summer and winter time. • Hour widgets on iPhone and Apple Watch now change at the exact moment a new Roman hour begins, with an animated hand-over. • A large rectangular hour complication for Apple Watch: the hour in big numerals, when it began and ends, and a bar showing how much is left. • The four Roman night watches (vigiliae) now appear through the night. • A new widget for the periods of the Roman civil day. • Made for the unfolded iPhone Duo: the day on the left, details on the right. • A language picker in Settings runs the whole app in any supported language, independent of your device, including Classical Latin. • Clearer, larger and more readable text throughout, with a refreshed, more Roman Settings screen.
What day is it in the Roman calendar? Tempora Romae shows you. See today's date as the Romans wrote it, with Kalendae, Nonae, and Idus. Browse a full monthly calendar in authentic Roman format, complete with day names in Latin. The app uses your location to calculate temporal hours: the variable length hours the Romans actually used, divided equally between sunrise and sunset. Watch them tick on a sundial visualisation.
