THE BOARD TAKES THE WHOLE PAGE On iPad the grid sat in one corner with half the sheet left blank, no larger than it was on a phone. It now takes the space it is given: the tiles grow with the screen, and held sideways the floor and the trading desk sit across the page from one another. TURN THE PAPER ANY WAY YOU LIKE Every screen reads in both orientations. On iPad the paper keeps its place in Split View and Slide Over instead of demanding the whole display, and it redraws at whatever size it is handed. MADE FOR IPHONE DUO Opened, the fold divides the paper the way a broadsheet divides — the board on one side of the hinge, the floor and the market listings on the other. Closed, it is the same paper at a smaller size. SAFE FROM TAKEOVER, SAID PLAINLY A company beyond takeover was ruled off with a heavy border around its tiles. It is now stamped across the block instead. The state belongs to the company, not to the tiles it happens to stand on, and the mark now says so. THE LEADERBOARDS ARE ONE TAP AWAY The Record went three taps deep to reach a global table. It now opens straight onto one, with your friends' table a tap from there. THE TRAINING DESK TELLS THE TRUTH Lesson one said a tile may be placed anywhere. It may not, and the lesson now says what actually stops you. The lessons on majorities and on settlement have been rewritten to say what a bonus is worth in dollars, why converting is worth doing, and what holding defunct paper pays if the name never comes back. FOUR RIVALS, FOUR DIFFERENT PLAYERS Greedy and Sharp were the same desk under two names — over four hundred games neither could beat the other. Greedy now plays the board and never the register, and the gap between them is real. The Shark, meanwhile, has stopped handing rivals a bonus on its way past.
About this app
The market opens with an empty grid. By the closing bell, every tile on the board belongs to somebody — and the largest fortune wins. Buyout is a strategy game about building companies and taking them over, told as a broadsheet newspaper. Place a tile, build a startup, and buy shares while they're cheap. When two companies touch, the bigger one swallows the smaller — and the front page tells the story: who got paid, who got wiped out, and who saw it coming. EVERY SHARE IS A FIGHT FOR THE BONUS When a company is taken over, its top shareholder collects a majority bonus and the runner-up collects a smaller one. Hold a company alone and you collect both. Every merger is really a fight over those seats — holding one share more than a rival can be worth six figures. SELL, CONVERT, OR HOLD YOUR NERVE After every takeover, your defunct shares must go somewhere. Take the cash. Convert into the survivor and stay in the majority race. Or hold worthless paper, betting the name gets re-founded. The market always asks; you always have to answer. THE MERGER DECK Twenty-seven cards can turn a clean deal sideways: regulators delay it, boards block it, golden parachutes open, activist investors come calling. Tune the deck in settings — or turn it off for a pure game. FOUR KINDS OF RIVAL From the casual desk to the Shark — an AI that simulates thousands of futures before it moves. Play solo against up to five rivals in any mix, or setup two human players and pass the device for a friendly competition. LEARN IT IN SEVEN LESSONS An interactive tutorial teaches the whole game — placement, founding, majorities, mergers, settlement, and the closing bell — in a few minutes. THE LEDGER KEEPS SCORE Career stats, win rates against every kind of rival, and a page of honors to earn. Best finishes are remembered. MADE LIKE A NEWSPAPER Playfair headlines, ink rules, and graph paper. Designed for iPhone and iPad — the iPad gets a full two-column trading desk. STRAIGHT DEALING Fully offline gameplay. No accounts. No analytics of our own. Your saves, stats, and player names never leave your device. The free edition shows the occasional ad between games; one purchase removes them forever. The desk is yours.
