One record a day. It came out today, some year ago.
Album of the Day gives you a single record each morning, at the hour you choose. Not what an algorithm thinks you want — a record with a birthday. Released on this date, in some year, and worth a listen.
HOW IT WORKS
Pick an hour. Pick five records you would take to a desert island. That's the whole setup.
Every day at your hour, one record arrives. The notification tells you the artist, the album and the year. Inside the app you get the cover, the tracklist, and playback through Apple Music.
Say more like this or less like this, and the picks shift. Say less, and that record won't come back. No record is ever given to you twice.
NO FEED
There is no scroll. No recommendations queue. No "you might also like". One record, then nothing until tomorrow.
PAST DAYS AND THE CALENDAR
Below today's record, the past week waits in a row of small covers. Every record you've been given keeps its place. Tap the date, or swipe from the edge, to zoom out from the record to the month, and from the month to the year: a grid of covers, then a field of colours, one dot per day.
ON YOUR HOME SCREEN
A widget shows today's record, its year and how old it turns.
WHERE THE RECORDS COME FROM
A pool of a few thousand albums that people bothered to write about. Not chart entries, not what's trending. Records with something behind them.
WHAT YOU NEED
Playback inside the app runs on Apple Music. Without a subscription you get previews, and every record links out so you can open it wherever you listen.
In English, Dutch, French, German, Spanish and Japanese.
No account. No tracking. No ads. The app only sends what it needs to deliver your daily notification.
