Make a melody with a line. Play Music turns your drawings into looping music on iPhone and iPad. Draw from left to right through time, draw higher for higher notes, and choose a color to change instruments. Press Play, then keep drawing or erase a line to hear your composition change. DRAW, LISTEN, EXPLORE Create with nine synthesized instruments: keys, pluck, bell, marimba, flute, strings, chime, bass, and 8-bit tones. Switch between Draw and Pixel for two visual views of the same music. START WITH A DRAWING Explore ten original illustrated drawings, from a mountain village and a lighthouse to a whale among stars and a rainy-day cafe. Every line is editable, and every sound comes from the actual drawing. Tap Random to discover twenty simple drawings that play familiar melody excerpts. English guidance explains the melody and how to recreate its shapes, helping you explore pitch, duration, and spacing. SHAPE YOUR SOUND Add bass, drums, and arpeggios independently or together. Adjust tempo, key, major or minor scales, loop length, and rhythm. Try pentatonic or diatonic scales, change your instrument colors, and experiment with the built-in keyboard. MAKE IT YOUR OWN Choose Light or Dark appearance. Set the canvas against the panel, sky, or a photo you select. Use the eraser, undo, and redo as you explore. Your current draft saves automatically, and the local Library keeps multiple projects ready to revisit. SHARE WHAT YOU MAKE Export one complete loop as an MP4 music video, WAV audio, or multitrack MIDI file. Use the system share sheet to save or share your creation. MIDI contains musical notes and uses the instruments in your other music app, so its sound may differ from Play Music. CREATE OFFLINE Drawing, playback, saving, and export work on your device. No account or internet connection is required, and the app does not automatically upload your drawings or background photos. Play Music has no advertisements or third-party analytics.
