Scanned books read better. Pages stored sideways are now recognized whole (half of a two-page spread used to be cut off), sentences flow across line breaks instead of stopping halfway, and the recognition engine is chosen from a page of real text rather than the title page. Scanned books recognized earlier are recognized again when you open them. Chapters of a scanned book open while it is still being recognized, and tapping a chapter starts reading from it. One language per document: the language is detected when a document opens and shown briefly (“Detected: English”). Change it for that document from the language chip or in Reading Options. The voice no longer switches languages mid-book. Read from here in every layout: a long press on the page offers “Read from Here” and “Copy”, and a tap on a line in the original page view starts reading there. Cleaner contents: wrapped chapter titles are one entry, lists of names and leftover contents lines are no longer headings, and text PDFs with an image cover or a contents page no longer go through recognition.
