Message nearby phones over Bluetooth when there is no signal or wifi.
No signal? No wifi? Bushwire still delivers. Bushwire sends messages from phone to phone over Bluetooth. When there is no mobile data or wifi, your message hops through other phones running Bushwire until it reaches the person you are writing to. The more people nearby use it, the further messages travel. Made for places the network does not reach: farms and the bush, hiking and camping, festivals and events, and power or network outages. PRIVATE CHATS, END-TO-END ENCRYPTED Add a contact by scanning their QR code. Only the two of you can read your messages. Phones that pass them along cannot. GROUP CHATS Encrypted groups for your crew, family or event. Joining and posting is free. Creating and managing groups is part of Bushwire Pro. OPEN MESH A public channel for everyone nearby: road conditions, lost and found, where to meet. Open Mesh is not encrypted and the app always says so. TODO LISTS Keep a group organised when a chat would lose it: who is bringing what, which huts are checked, what still needs doing. Tick items off, set a due date, put someone's name on a job, attach a photo, and talk it through underneath. Everyone on the list sees every change as it reaches them, and the list records who did what and when. My Tasks gathers everything assigned to you across every list. A job that comes round again can be set to repeat every few hours, days, weeks or months, and moves to its next date as soon as anyone ticks it off. NOTEBOOKS Shared pages the whole group can write: procedures, kit lists, radio schedules, anything worth keeping where a chat would bury it. Pages are written in plain Markdown and can link to one another, and each one records who started it and who changed it last. If two people write over each other while apart, both versions are kept rather than one being lost. SCHEDULED MESSAGES Write a message now and choose when it appears. It travels the mesh straight away, so it still arrives even if you are out of range later. LOCATION PINS THAT WORK OFFLINE Share where you are. The pin shows coordinates, distance and compass bearing from your own position, with no map download needed. PHOTOS AND VOICE NOTES Compressed so they fit through Bluetooth. Location data is removed from photos before they are sent. NO ACCOUNT, NO SERVERS, NO TRACKING No phone number, email or sign-up. No analytics, no ads. Your identity is a key that lives only on your phone, and your messages are stored encrypted on the device. ALSO INCLUDED - Delivery status: queued, in the mesh, delivered - Pin, archive, star and search your chats and lists - App lock with PIN or fingerprint, and a duress PIN - Panic wipe - Block users and filter words on Open Mesh - Adjustable text size throughout the app - Statistics: how many phones you have met and how much you have carried for others - Optional local wifi to reach phones on the same network faster GOOD TO KNOW - Messages travel only between phones running Bushwire. Delivery can take minutes or hours and is not guaranteed. - Do not rely on Bushwire in an emergency. Always use official emergency services where you can. - Bushwire has not yet had an independent security review. BUSHWIRE PRO A one-time purchase that lets you create and manage groups, todo lists and notebooks, including repeating tasks and geofenced groups people can join when they are physically nearby, and pin as many chats and lists as you like. Joining and using a group, list or notebook someone invites you to is always free.
