A magical talking Earth for kids.
globby is a colourful 3D globe that teaches children the countries of the world. Turn the planet, tap any country, and Globie — a friendly cartoon teacher — reads a lesson aloud: the country's name and capital, then its land, animals, food, music and a famous place.
Made for exploring, not for homework
• A political 3D globe — bright candy colours, white polar ice, neighbours never match
• Drag to turn, pinch to zoom, tap to pick. The globe stays still until you move it
• 178 countries, each with a short lesson of about 10 seconds and a full lesson of about a minute
• One tap on the map switches between short and full lessons
• The lesson card shows two lines, so the globe stays visible — tap Show more to read it all
• Globie blinks, smiles and talks along: a girl or a boy, to match the voice. Tap Globie to hear a greeting or replay a lesson
• Search for a country or capital, and see how many countries you have discovered, by continent
Two games
• Find it! — Globie names a country and shows its flag, and you find it on the globe. Miss, and Globie tells you which country you tapped and gives a hint
• Flags and capitals — pick the right flag or capital from four
• Easy, medium or hard: 10, 20 or 30 questions, then your success rate, stars and best score
Say a country
• Press the microphone and say a country in your own language — “Japan”, “日本”, “ژاپن” — and the globe turns there and Globie starts the lesson
• It works offline: the phone itself works out the country, and the recording never leaves the phone and is deleted right after
13 languages
English, 中文, Español, العربية, فارسی, বাংলা, Русский, Basa Jawa, Français, Türkçe, Tiếng Việt, اردو and Հայերեն. Arabic, Persian and Urdu read right to left.
The app picks a starting language from your country the first time it opens — you can change it any time in Settings.
Free and Premium
• Free: country lessons and a game every day, then a friendly reminder.
• Optional one-time unlock ($2.99), from the reminder or from Settings: unlimited lessons and games forever. Not a subscription — pay once and it follows your Google account to any phone.
• No ads, ever.
Safe for children
• Lessons, games, voice search and the globe all work offline, and Globie speaks with the phone's own voice, or with Globby's built-in voice for Persian and Armenian
• Network use: one lookup on first launch that works out the approximate country to pick a starting language; a short check-in with our own server for new welcome messages and settings, which sends only a random device code, the app version and language; and Google Play for the optional unlock
• No ads, no accounts, no ad tracking, no chat, no GPS
• Parents can mute speech and reset progress, and turn the microphone off in the phone's settings
How a lesson begins
“Japan is an island country in East Asia. Its capital city is Tokyo. Japan is famous for sushi, anime, cherry blossoms and Mount Fuji.” In a full lesson Globie then carries on — mountains and hot springs, snow monkeys, bullet trains, festivals and more.
