Divide the grid into rectangles. One number each. Pure logic, no guessing
Carve is a Shikaku puzzle game built on one promise: every puzzle has exactly one solution, and you never have to guess. Divide the grid into rectangles. Each rectangle must contain exactly one number, and cover exactly that many cells. That's the whole rule — the depth comes from the logic. WHY CARVE IS DIFFERENT Most rectangle-puzzle apps ship puzzles with multiple valid answers, and hints that just reveal a cell. Carve doesn't. Every single puzzle — all 250 campaign levels, every daily, every endless board — is verified by a solver to have exactly one solution. If you're stuck, it's never the puzzle's fault. There is always a next logical step, and the hint system will show you how to find it. HINTS THAT TEACH, NOT SPOIL Carve's hints are powered by a real logic solver, not a stored answer sheet. A hint shows you which clue has a forced move and explains the deduction — "only one rectangle of this size can still cover that cell" — so you learn to see it yourself next time. Made a wrong move? Carve can spot the exact rectangle that broke your board. WHAT'S INSIDE • 250 campaign puzzles across 8 chapters, from friendly 5×5 grids to fierce 15×15 Expert boards • A new daily puzzle every day — build your streak • Endless mode: unlimited puzzles at any size and difficulty you choose • Measured difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert are graded by the actual reasoning required, not just grid size • Smooth drawing with a live cell counter, precision magnifier and pinch-to-zoom on big boards • Progress saves automatically, down to your undo history MADE FOR CALM FOCUS No timer pressure, no lives, no energy system. A clean, warm design with soft colors and satisfying feedback. Sessions fit in five minutes or fifty. PLAYS ANYWHERE Fully offline. No account, no sign-up, no personal data collection. Airplane mode, subway, cabin in the woods — Carve works. If you enjoy Sudoku, Nonogram, Picross, Kakuro or other Nikoli-style logic puzzles, Shikaku will feel instantly familiar and refreshingly different: it's spatial, it's visual, and when the last rectangle clicks into place, the whole board resolves into a satisfying mosaic. Carve the grid. Trust the logic.
