An offline atlas of lost lands, legendary islands and the books behind them
xplore Atlantis, Lemuria, Avalon and the worlds imagined beneath the Earth. Lost Worlds is an atlas of legends, books and speculative geography, with the authors' words close at hand. FIFTEEN PLACES TO EXPLORE Discover sunken lands, enchanted Atlantic islands, polar visions and hidden inner worlds. Follow related entries from one idea to another. Surface places appear on a map of broad literary regions; inner worlds and whole-world models have their own reading diagrams. WHAT DID THE SOURCE SAY? Every atlas entry brings together an author's proposal, a passage from the historical text and original commentary. Open the source to read beyond the excerpt. Novels, literary retellings, purported chronicles and speculative theories keep their own identities. A HISTORY OF IDEAS Follow twelve publications through a timeline. Compare the voices of Donnelly, Scott-Elliot, Bulwer-Lytton, Warren, Emerson, Gardner and other writers. Dates identify books and proposals, keeping a publication separate from the ancient dates claimed within its pages. YOUR OFFLINE LIBRARY Read twelve historical text editions in 399 sections, including The Coming Race, The Smoky God, Symzonia, Paradise Found and Tales of the Enchanted Islands of the Atlantic. All atlas entries, commentary and library texts are included for offline reading. The text editions do not reproduce the original illustrations. READ, SEARCH AND RETURN Search worlds, authors and the library's full text. Open a matching passage, browse each book's contents, change the reading size and jump to the top or bottom of a section. Save worlds and reading sections, or continue from your last reading position. Share a source passage as a credited image with a link back to the app. Add a home-screen widget for a different atlas entry each day. All content and features are free. The app contains ads; an optional one-time purchase removes them.
