Celestial navigation, Sun and Moon planning, compass, field tools and practice
Sextans Suite brings celestial instruments and outdoor tools together. Work a measured sextant sight, practice with a generated observation, plan the Sun and Moon, and keep a named point for the way back. CELESTIAL NAVIGATION The complete Sextant instrument set is included: - Almanac for the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars and 57 navigational stars. - Sight reduction with index correction, dip, refraction, semi-diameter and parallax shown step by step. - Sea horizon or reflecting artificial horizon, including the full double-angle reading and its correction. - Fixes from two or three saved sights, a scaled plot, crossing angles and running-fix course and speed. - Observation planner with geometric altitude, true bearing and a suggested set of bodies. - Chronometer error, daily rate and capture of an observation reading. DRILL AND LORE Drill gives you a simulated sight with a hidden answer. Reduce it yourself, enter the intercept and azimuth, compare the result and reveal every step. It can identify common correction and sign mistakes. Lore contains 23 chapters: practical instructions for every Suite workflow and articles explaining time, altitude corrections, star positions and fix geometry. Search the manual by tool or subject and read it in the normal or red night palette. SKY AND FIELD - Sun and Moon paths with a time slider, azimuth and altitude. - Moon phase, illumination, rise and set times with directions. - Twilight, golden and blue light intervals and remaining daylight. - Magnetic and true headings on supported devices, local magnetic declination and Sun-shadow alignment. - Manual coordinates, an explicitly adopted celestial fix or a device location requested when you need it. - Named places with distance and a direct return bearing. - A home-screen widget for the stored place, sunset and the Moon. YOUR OBSERVATIONS Keep raw readings and horizon modes in the sight journal. Export CSV calculations or a JSON archive to a file you choose. Celestial calculations work offline, and places and sights are stored locally. Enter the altitude measured with your sextant and the observation reading for a real sight. For practice without an instrument, use Drill. One paid download includes every Suite instrument. No ads, in-app purchases or subscription. Sextans Suite is a separate application; its purchase gives access within Suite.
