Scan food labels for allergens in many languages. Offline, for the whole family.
AllergyScan reads the ingredients on food packaging with your phone camera and highlights anything on your allergy list. Point the camera at the label: the app captures it automatically, finds the ingredient list, "Contains" and "May contain" statements, and explains every match. Scanning works offline and your photos never leave the phone. Made for food allergies, intolerances and ingredients you simply avoid, at home, in the supermarket and when travelling. WHAT IT CHECKS • 16 major allergens: milk, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, gluten, soy, sesame, fish, crustaceans, molluscs, mustard, celery, lupin and sulphites • 9 more foods that matter in some countries: buckwheat, kiwi, peach, tomato, banana, pork, beef, chicken and coconut • Any ingredient you add yourself, such as an additive or a specific fruit • Hidden names: whey and casein for milk, semolina for wheat, tahini for sesame, albumin for egg, and hundreds more CLEAR, HONEST RESULTS • Separates "contains" from "may contain" (cross-contact) warnings • Says "check needed" when part of the label is hard to read or the list may be cut off • Shows where each match was found and why, with a confidence level • Never claims a product is safe: it helps you read labels, you make the decision READS LABELS FROM AROUND THE WORLD • Built-in reading of Latin-alphabet languages, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Hindi • Optional downloads for Arabic, Urdu, Persian, Hebrew, Thai, Greek, Russian, Ukrainian, Bengali, Tamil and more • Recognises allergen words in about 23 languages, including on bilingual packs LABEL RULES BY COUNTRY Allergen labelling laws differ. AllergyScan knows the mandatory allergen lists for the EU, UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, China and India, and warns you when your allergen does not have to be named on that label and could be hidden under "spices" or "flavourings". FAMILY AND GROUP PROFILES Add allergy lists for your children, partner, parents, a school class or friends at dinner. One scan checks everyone you select and shows who is affected. AUDIO MODE FOR BLIND AND LOW-VISION USERS Spoken camera directions such as "move closer" and "hold steady", a different sound and vibration for each result, and the whole result read aloud. Works with TalkBack. SMART CAMERA Automatic capture when the label is sharp and steady, refocusing on the label, automatic zoom for tiny print, torch, tap to focus and pinch to zoom. You can also scan a photo from your gallery or type the ingredients. MORE TOOLS • Waiter card: show your allergies to restaurant staff in 9 languages • Optional barcode lookup on Open Food Facts (only the barcode number is sent, and only when you allow it) • Scan history saved as text on your phone PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, no ads, no analytics. Camera images are processed on the phone and never uploaded or saved. Allergy lists stay on your device. App languages: English, Urdu and Arabic. IMPORTANT AllergyScan is an information tool, not a medical device. Text recognition can miss or misread words, recipes change, and "may contain" warnings are voluntary. Always check the original packaging, especially for severe allergies, and follow your doctor's advice.
