ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE API DISCLOSURE
Notch Mate uses Android's AccessibilityService API. It is required for the app's core function, and you must turn it on yourself in Settings → Accessibility. The app shows an in-app disclosure and asks for your consent before sending you there.
Why the service is needed:
• Perform system actions: when you trigger a gesture, the service runs the action you bound to it, such as Back, Home, Recents, Notifications, Quick Settings, Power menu, Lock screen, Split screen and Take Screenshot. Android does not let a normal app perform these actions.
• Detect the foreground app and keyboard: the service sees which app is in front and whether the keyboard is showing. This makes your per-app exclusion list and safeguards work, so the notch is disabled where you don't want it.
• Find a scrollable area: for the Scroll Up and Scroll Down actions, the service looks at the screen structure to find a scrollable area. It does not read the text in it.
What Notch Mate does NOT do with this permission:
• It does not read, record or store the text on your screen, what you type, passwords or personal information.
• It does not collect or transmit accessibility data, and it does not sell or share it. Nothing the service sees leaves your device.
• It does not observe key presses or perform gestures on your behalf outside the actions you assign.
You can turn the service off at any time in Settings → Accessibility → Notch Mate. Without it, the notch gestures stop working.
