Markdown tasks & notes, calendar built in. No account. Works with Obsidian.
TaskForge brings your tasks, notes and calendar into one app by reading and editing the Markdown files in folders you choose. Its file management tools find tasks and notes across internal storage, SD cards and sync folders, and write every change back to the original file. No TaskForge account required.
Create tasks, write notes and view your calendar for free. Note editing is in beta. Start with a folder of your own or use your existing Obsidian vault, with nothing to import or convert.
How it works
1) Pick the folder that holds your files. Vaults can live anywhere: internal storage, SD card, or a third-party sync folder.
2) TaskForge scans it and finds every task and note in your Markdown files.
3) Manage tasks in the app or from widgets. Every edit is written to the original file.
4) TaskForge monitors your folders in real time, so a change from Obsidian, a sync client or an AI agent shows up the moment the file saves.
Works with your Obsidian vault
Reads and writes Obsidian Tasks emoji fields, Dataview fields, Task Genius and TaskNotes YAML frontmatter with your own field mapping. Every edit goes back to the original file.
Home screen widgets and notifications
Widgets for today, overdue, a tag, a saved filter or any section of a space. Check a task off without opening the app. Push notifications for due and scheduled work, several reminders per task, and a daily summary.
Calendar, built in
Your device calendars sit beside your tasks in the month view, in spaces and in widgets.
Notes and boards
Open, read and edit any note in your vault, next to the tasks inside it; every workspace gets a daily note. Spaces stack task and event sections, custom filtered lists, a kanban board with drag and drop, tags, contexts, projects, priorities, recurring tasks, and start, scheduled and due dates.
Quick capture
Type a task the way you would say it and TaskForge fills in the date, priority and tag.
Optional tools for your AI agent
Use your own AI agent to turn meeting notes into tasks or update your task list. TaskForge generates a guide to your folder's format. The free taskforge CLI and local MCP server, installed separately on Windows, Mac or Linux, give compatible agents tools to read and edit tasks and notes. These tools run locally without network access. They do not include an AI assistant or subscription. Your chosen AI provider's account requirements and data handling still apply.

FILE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS & "ALL FILES ACCESS"
══════════════════════
TaskForge is a DOCUMENT & FILE MANAGEMENT app. Its core purpose is to LOCATE, READ, EDIT, and ORGANIZE the Markdown (.md) files in user-selected folders across shared storage. It must read files in folders you pick, write every edit back to the ORIGINAL file, and monitor those folders for changes made by other apps. Android's "All files access" (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) is what makes this possible; without it, TaskForge cannot open your folder and does not work. TaskForge does not upload your task or note files to its own servers.
Privacy and compatibility
No TaskForge account, no analytics. Tasks and notes work offline. External sync and AI services handle data under their own terms. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Obsidian.md or Anthropic.
