Play Chaupar offline with cowrie shells, friends or a computer opponent.
Roll seven cowrie shells, capture opponents and race to bring all four pawns home. Chaupar: Parchisi Board Game brings traditional Indian board game strategy to your phone. Explore the Chaupar and Pachisi family of games through a seven-cowrie version with individual play, safe squares and tactical choices. Play against the computer or share one device with friends and family. CHOOSE YOUR GAME • Computer opponent: practise your moves or enjoy a solo match. • 2-player local game: challenge a friend on the same device. • 4-player local game: gather friends and family for pass-and-play. Local and computer games can be played offline. HOW TO PLAY 1. Choose a game mode. Each player has four pawns. 2. Take part in the opening throw. The highest score starts; tied leaders throw again. This opening contest chooses the first player without moving a pawn. 3. Tap to throw seven Kodi, also called cowrie shells. 4. Use an eligible throw to enter a pawn, or select a pawn already on the board to move. 5. Travel anticlockwise, use safe flower squares and capture exposed opponents. 6. Unlock your home lane with a capture, then reach Ghar with exact steps. 7. Bring all four pawns into Ghar before your opponents to win. COWRIE SCORES The number of shells with their mouths facing up determines the score: • 0 face up: 7 • 1 face up: 10 • 2 face up: 2 • 3 face up: 3 • 4 face up: 4 • 5 face up: 25 • 6 face up: 30 • 7 face up: 14 KEY RULES • Scores of 10, 25 or 30 allow entry and another throw. Entering places a pawn on its entry flower and uses that throw; it does not also move the pawn the full score. • Additional throws are saved before moving. Use saved throws in their rolled order, choosing a pawn for each. • Three high throws in one turn forfeit the turn's saved, unplayed throws. • If a throw has no legal move, only that throw is forfeited. • Eight flower squares are safe and may be shared by opposing pawns. • Land on an unprotected lone opponent outside a flower to capture it. Captured pawns return to their yard and must enter again. • Same-colour stacks are protected. Outside flowers, you may pass an opposing stack but cannot land on it. Pawns move individually. • Capture an opponent to unlock your home lane. Ghar requires an exact throw; capturing or reaching Ghar does not itself grant another throw. • Once all four pawns have entered at least once, later high throws earn a separate +1 Peghedu move. This bonus cannot enter a pawn from its yard. • The first player to finish all four pawns wins. In a four-player match, the others continue for the remaining places. MADE FOR CLEAR, ENJOYABLE PLAY Follow on-screen turn guidance, review the throw table and check match progress while you play. Zoom the board when you need a closer look, choose a light or dark theme, and adjust sound and vibration to suit your preference. English, Hindi and Gujarati interface options make the game accessible to different players. A colourful cross-shaped board, cowrie animations and in-game rules help you follow each turn. Whether you enjoy Parchisi, traditional board games or friendly strategy matches, discover the choices behind every cowrie throw in Chaupar.
