Bird song & photo identifier. Log records, collect cards, build your life list
Hear a bird? Identify it by its song. See one? Identify it from a photo. Then collect it. Birdex is the bird identifier that turns birdwatching into a collecting adventure. Sound ID listens and names the bird singing around you. Photo ID names the one you snapped. Every record you log unlocks a beautifully illustrated card for your personal Birdex, and your life list grows with every walk. Join a growing community of birders across Europe discovering a fresh, rewarding way to connect with nature. ▸ SOUND ID: IDENTIFY BIRDS BY SONG AND CALL • Open Sound ID and hold up your phone. Species appear and firm up in real time as the bird keeps singing. • Runs entirely on your phone. No audio ever leaves it, and it works with no signal once set up. • Free and unlimited, with hundreds of European species. • Tap any bird it hears to log it in one step. ▸ PHOTO ID: IDENTIFY BIRDS FROM A PICTURE • Snap or upload a photo and identify a bird in seconds. • Detailed species pages help you confirm tricky IDs with confidence. • Already use Merlin Bird ID or eBird? Import your records and pick up where you left off. ▸ KEEP A LIFE LIST Every bird you record joins your personal life list, a running record of everything you have seen: • Log records with date, place, and count • Track how many species you have found • Revisit your rarest finds and favourite days in the field ▸ COLLECT CARDS FOR 950+ EUROPEAN SPECIES Every record unlocks a collectible card for your Birdex. Watch your collection grow as you explore gardens, parks, wetlands, woodlands, and coastlines across Europe. Each card carries its own artwork, fascinating facts, and habitat, seasonal behaviour, and conservation status. ▸ LEARN THE BIRDS Distinguishing field marks, where and when to find each species, behaviour, feeding habits, and fun facts that bring every bird to life. Perfect for beginners learning their first garden birds and seasoned birders alike. ▸ STAY MOTIVATED • Earn XP for every bird you log • Keep daily streaks alive for bonus rewards • Complete quests and seasonal challenges • Unlock achievements and milestone badges ▸ BIRD WITH FRIENDS • Add friends and follow their latest finds in the live feed • Challenge a friend to Bird Blitz • Climb the leaderboards and weekly leagues • Join monthly events and giveaways with exclusive prizes ▸ CONNECT WITH NATURE Studies show that watching birds improves wellbeing and reduces stress. AI Disclaimer: The card artwork was created with AI assistance. Birdex started as a small, self-funded project, and using AI tools allowed us to launch with a consistent visual style on a limited budget. As the app grows, we intend to replace the AI artwork with illustrations from real artists.
