Screen rotation per app: lock landscape or portrait. No persistent notification.
AppRotate is a per-app rotation control. Pick a screen orientation for each app — auto-rotate, portrait, landscape and more — and the screen switches when that app opens and goes back when you leave. Keep video apps in landscape and reading apps in portrait, or let one app auto-rotate while system auto-rotate stays off. No persistent notification, no "display over other apps" permission, no change to your system rotation setting.
▶ HOW IT WORKS
1. Pick an app and choose its orientation
2. Turn on the accessibility service so AppRotate can see which app is on screen
3. Open the app: the screen switches. Leave it: it goes back to normal
▶ WHAT IT DOES / WHAT IT DOESN'T
✔ Applies the orientation you chose while a selected app is on screen
✔ Releases it the moment you leave — other apps stay as they were
✘ It can NOT make every app look right in landscape. Apps built only for portrait can look cut off or fill just half the screen — that comes from the app itself. Switch that app to Auto-rotate or Portrait.
✘ Tablets and unfolded foldables on Android 16 or later are NOT supported — the system ignores orientation requests there.
✘ The home screen, lock screen and Settings app are never rotated.
▶ 6 ORIENTATIONS
• Auto-rotate — works even when system auto-rotate is off
• Portrait and Landscape — locked, however you tilt the phone
• Landscape (auto-flip) — flips when you turn the phone around
• Reverse landscape and Reverse portrait
▶ FEATURES
• Screen rotation control for each app — no limit on apps
• Category rules (Pro): one orientation for Games, Video, Social and more, including apps you install later (uses the category each app declares)
• My categories: group your own apps under one orientation
• Time rules: a different orientation during hours you choose. The rule on top wins
• Pause everything or one app: 5 minutes to 6 hours, or until you resume
• Quick Settings tile to pause or resume
• On-screen notice (top, bottom or off) shows the orientation applied. Its menu changes the orientation, pauses, or stops managing that app
▶ PERFECT FOR
• Video and streaming apps → landscape as soon as they open
• E-books, news and social apps → portrait lock, even when you lie down
• Maps or the gallery → auto-rotate only there, while the rest stays locked
▶ WHY ANOTHER ROTATION APP
• No persistent notification, no foreground service — it only reacts when the app on screen changes
• Fewer permissions: no "display over other apps", no "modify system settings", no usage access
• No subscription and no trial that runs out
▶ PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS
AppRotate has no account or login. Your settings stay on your device.
The app shows ads (Google AdMob) and sends usage statistics and crash reports to Google (Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics). App names, package names and your category names are not sent. What is sent about your apps is the app category assigned by Android (for example game, video or social) and the orientation applied.
Why accessibility? AppRotate uses the accessibility service to detect the foreground app and to show an invisible, zero-size window that sets the orientation. It checks the package name and window class name of the app in front — never screen text or what you type — and never taps, scrolls or types for you.
Notifications: only an alert if the service gets turned off, and one welcome-offer reminder.
