About this app
A cold case detective game. Search a victim's phone, find the truth, name them.
YOU ARE HANDED A PHONE. THAT IS ALL YOU GET. No crime scene. No interviews. No partner. Just a recovered handset belonging to someone who is gone, and the quiet certainty that everything you need to close the case is already on it. ColdSpy is a cold case detective game about reading between the lines. Messages, Call logs, Voicemails, Photographs, Notes, Email, Browser history, a Calendar, a Map of everywhere she went. All of it real, all of it ordinary, and some of it a lie. Your job is to work out which. TWO FULL CASES • THE LAST SIGNAL. Elena Voss went to count seals on a stretch of empty coast. Her phone came back without her. • NINETEEN MISSED CALLS. A number nobody recognises, calling a woman who had already stopped answering. Five chapters each. Four suspects. Four motives. One of them is true. A PHONE THAT BEHAVES LIKE A PHONE Open Messages and scroll a real thread. Play a voicemail and hear the pause before she answers. Find a photo album she hid behind its own passcode, and the code written down somewhere she never expected anyone to look. Check the deleted photos. Check the location history against what she told people. Check the timestamps. Nothing is highlighted for you. Nothing glows. If you do not open it, you do not find it. REAL DEDUCTION, NOT TAPPING Every chapter ends in a checkpoint, and a checkpoint is a test. Get 70% right or the next chapter stays locked. You are graded on two things and they are not the same thing: • DEDUCTION. Did you reach the right answer? • THOROUGHNESS. Did you find the evidence, or did you guess well? Pin what matters to the evidence board and watch the connections form. Keep your own notes. Then, at the end, name the killer AND the motive. Getting one right and the other wrong is not solving it. FOR PLAYERS WHO LIKE Detective games, murder mystery games, crime investigation games, whodunit puzzles, story-driven mystery games, true-crime-style cold cases, text message story games, and anything where the game trusts you to think. If you have ever paused a documentary to argue with the screen, this is that, except you are allowed to be wrong and then find out. NO PRESSURE, NO TIMERS Take an hour or take a week. The cases do not expire, nothing runs down, and your progress is saved. Sign in with Google if you want it backed up across devices, or don't, and it stays on this phone and nowhere else. Stuck? Hints are there. The first one in a chapter costs you a star off your grade; after that you can watch a short video instead. Or subscribe once and never see one again. EVERY CASE IS FICTION Every person, place, number and photograph in ColdSpy is invented. No part of any story here is based on a real investigation, a real disappearance, or a real person. This is a puzzle, written to be one. Open the file. She has been waiting a long time.
