Whether you are switching to a new phone, securing your data, or cleaning up storage, SMS Backup & Restore lets you export and recover your text messages in just a few taps. KEY FEATURES • Backup SMS: Save all your text messages into a lightweight, portable JSON format. • Restore SMS: Recover your conversations quickly and seamlessly from any previously saved backup file. • Smart Deduplication: The app automatically identifies and skips exact duplicate messages during restoration to keep your inbox clean. • Secure File Management: Store your backups locally on your device's internal storage, an external SD card, or export them to your preferred cloud storage provider (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive) using Android's native Storage Access Framework. • Privacy-First & Offline: No accounts, no sign-ups, and no internet access required. Your messages never leave your device unless you choose to move them. IMPORTANT PERMISSIONS NOTE: To read your local messages and write backups, this app requires standard SMS permissions. Android security policies require that the app temporarily be set as your Default SMS App during the restoration process in order to write messages back to your device's database. As soon as the restore is complete, the app will safely prompt you to switch back to your preferred primary messaging app (e.g., Google Messages).
