Turn years of exported location data into a travel atlas you can actually understand. Location History Explorer imports location and activity files you already own, reconstructs meaningful journeys and lets you explore your history on maps, as a 3D globe or through animated Story videos. Your archive is processed directly on your Android device. WHAT YOU CAN IMPORT • Google Maps Timeline exports—recommended for the complete Atlas, Journeys, Life and Stories experience • Strava account exports • Supported exports from Garmin, Fitbit, Samsung Health, Google Fit/Health and adidas Running/Runtastic • ZIP, KMZ, JSON, KML, GPX, GPX.GZ, FIT, FIT.GZ, TCX and CSV files containing supported location or activity data The app does not connect to these accounts or record your current location. You first request an export from the source service, then select the archive, folder or file in the app. Different exports contain different evidence. Google Maps Timeline provides the strongest basis for residences, multi-day journeys and complete year Stories. Strava and fitness files add recorded workouts, routes and elevation detail. With activity files alone, the app can visualize the included activities but may not be able to reconstruct your wider travel life. TURN A YEAR INTO A STORY Generate an animated travel story from an entire year. Preview the chapters, adjust scenes and timing, then export the result as a video. Smooth camera movement, animated routes and location context transform an archive into memories you can watch again. EXPLORE THE DETAILS • Display recorded movement as paths, heatmaps or both • Filter by year, date range and time window • Choose between light, dark and other supported map styles • Inspect activities with distance, duration, ascent, descent and elevation profiles • Export map images and animated videos for viewing or sharing PRIVACY BY DESIGN Imported archives and the Atlas, Journeys, Life views and Stories created from them are processed and stored locally. There is no required account, advertising, analytics, developer-operated cloud backend or remote crash reporting. The app does not request access to your current GPS location. Online map providers receive requests only for map areas you choose to view. The optional Improve places feature runs only when you start it and may send a coordinate rounded to about 100 metres to Android’s device-provided geocoder. It never uploads your archive, routes or complete location history. Internet access is used for online background maps, external help pages and optional place lookup.
