NFPA 14 Class I, II, III: hose valves, GPM, PSI, friction loss, high rise.
Standpipe system demand per NFPA 14: flow, residual pressure and minimum pipe size for Class I, II and III systems, wet or dry, manual or automatic.
WHAT IT CALCULATES
- Class I: 500 gpm for the first standpipe, 250 gpm for each additional one
- Class II: 100 gpm
- Class III: the Class I flow rule with Class II hose stations
- Maximum total flow: 1000 gpm when the building is sprinklered throughout, otherwise 1250 gpm
- Minimum residual pressure: 100 psi Class I and III, 65 psi Class II
- Elevation pressure at 0.434 psi per foot of height
- Minimum pipe size: 4 in Class I and III, 6 in riser above 75 ft, 2 in Class II
CODE REFERENCES BUILT IN
- NFPA 14 section 7.10.1.1.5 - maximum total system flow
- Minimum residual pressure at the topmost outlet
HOW IT WORKS
Enter class, number of standpipes, building height and system type. You get total flow, required pressure at the pump and the minimum pipe size.
