Day by day, English builds up steadily.
Stop memorizing and forgetting English. Repeat until you remember, and make it your own for a long time.
If you can't hear, it's not your ears' fault, it's the words' fault.
You won't hear unfamiliar words even if you hear them a hundred times.
I counted all 12.56 million words in the dialogue across 23 American TV series, 2,996 episodes.
If you know the 3,000 most frequently appearing words, you will know 97% of the dialogue.
Before you start shadowing, begin with these 3,000 words. 30 a day is 100 days.
■ Card #1 Immediately upon installation
No need to find a vocabulary list, set up the app, or copy and paste example sentences.
Meanings, example sentences, pronunciation, and audio are included from the start.
■ Don't just memorize the meanings
· Nuance — When and with what mood the words are used
· Similar words and differences — The difference between "awkward" and "embarrassing"
· Common mistakes — Where Koreans make errors
· Frequently used phrases — Chunks found in actual scripts
■ We didn't create a vocabulary list; we counted American TV shows
Each card lists the word's ranking in actual TV show dialogue.
For frequently used phrases, we only included those that actually appeared in the scripts.
■ Don't try to memorize. Just flip through.
People forget more than half of what they learn after just one day. If you review it right before you forget, it stays with you longer.
Chagok calculates the Ebbinghaus forgetting curve (FSRS) for each card to determine when to review it again.
All you have to do is flip through. Left: "Don't remember," Bottom: "Barely remember," Top: "Remember well," Right: "Perfect."
There are no review schedules or checklists.
** ■ You Can See It Accumulate
Your completion progress increases proportionally to the words you learn, and your level rises every 100, 300, and 1,000 words.
From 'Subtitles Required' to 'No Subtitles'. Words you remember for a long time are stacked in bold on top of the 3,000-word grid.
■ 2,000 Advanced American Dramas After 3,000
Once you finish 3,000 words, it leads to the next 2,000 most frequently appearing words.
■ Set a Deadline, and the App Determines Your Daily Requirement
100 days, 60 days, 30 days. The remaining days are always visible on the home screen.
■ Listen First
A mode where you recall words by listening only to the sound, without the text.
Knowing a word is different from hearing a word.

* "97% of dialogue" is based on word families (go, goes, going, and went are counted as one).
Names and interjections were counted as known. With only 3,000 words, it is 93%.
The criteria followed the study by Webb & Rodgers (2009).
