About this app
Letter tracing and handwriting practice for kids 4-7, plus printable worksheets.
Learn to Write: ABC and 123 is handwriting practice for children aged 4 to 7. Your child traces letters and numbers with a finger or a stylus, step by step and at their own pace, and earns a forest animal for every character they master. No ads, no time limits, no account. TRACING LETTERS, STROKE BY STROKE Your child follows the ghost letter with a finger and sees straight away whether the line stays on track. Every letter has a fixed stroke order and writing direction, the same one taught at school. With a stylus it works even better: it is held like a pencil, so the hand learns the right grip from the start. Letter tracing begins with the simplest shapes and never rushes the child. EVERY STROKE PATH DRAWN BY HAND The writing path of every character, the stroke order, the direction, the starting point and the places where the hand slows down, was drawn by hand, character by character. We do not generate it automatically from the font file, because that loses exactly what a teacher demonstrates: where a letter begins and how it is led. This is why the trail in the app matches what your child sees in a school workbook, in every handwriting style on offer. WRITING NUMBERS Digits from 0 to 9 are practised the same way as letters: by tracing, with the stroke order shown. Writing numbers is a natural first step towards counting and early maths. US SCHOOL HANDWRITING: PRINT AND CURSIVE Choose the style your child is taught: upright manuscript print (the default, as in US schools), traditional cursive or modern cursive. Families in Germany, Austria and Poland get their own school scripts too. PRINTABLE WORKSHEETS Create handwriting worksheets in the parent area with the letters and numbers you pick, in the same style your child practises in the app. Four templates: trace the grey letter, dot to dot, fading guides, and model plus free writing. Three letter sizes, a name and date line, stroke numbers and arrows, and a picture of your child's animal. Print them or save a PDF. WHAT YOUR CHILD PRACTISES • all capital letters of the alphabet • all lowercase letters • digits from 0 to 9 • correct stroke order and writing direction throughout AN ANIMAL FOR EVERY LETTER Each letter and digit has its own forest animal. When your child masters a character, the animal grows up through four stages, from a baby to an adult. Every animal earned waits in the Zoo, ready to visit again. It is a reason to come back tomorrow, without competition and without a countdown. CALM INSTEAD OF STIMULATION • no ads, ever, in any form • no time limits and no ticking clock • no leaderboards and no comparing with other children • no account, no sign in, no personal data FOR PARENTS The parent area is protected by a PIN. One dashboard shows real progress (characters mastered, attempts, animals collected), sets a daily goal from 5 to 20 minutes, builds printable worksheets and holds the settings: handwriting style, line thickness, difficulty and narrator voice. Found a bug or have an idea? Write to us from the "Your feedback" section. Every purchase needs an adult to confirm it. FOR PRESCHOOL AND FIRST GRADE Stroke order and letter shapes follow what children are taught at school, so the app supports the workbook rather than contradicting it. It suits fine motor practice at home, in preschool and in after school clubs, alongside worksheets and pattern drills. WHO IT IS FOR • preschool writing practice (ages 4 to 5) • learning letters and numbers before school (ages 5 to 6) • handwriting practice in first grade (ages 6 to 7) • children who do better with a calm educational app than with a game full of ads PRIVACY Learning progress stays on the device. We do not collect names, email addresses, location or contacts. We build no profiles and show no ads. Privacy policy: https://kidalu.com/en/letters-and-numbers/legal/ The free version covers the first letters and numbers. A single purchase unlocks everything, with no subscription and nothing to renew.
