About this app
Share map locations and GPX, FIT, TCX or KML routes with your Garmin
Read full description
Share locations and complete routes with your Garmin. Install Maps Share on your Garmin from the Connect IQ Store: https://apps.garmin.com/apps/e867c61d-5e7c-4943-b912-627cd794279b SHARE LOCATIONS Share a place from Google Maps to Maps Share, then navigate to it on Garmin or save it for later. Coordinate-based geo: links from compatible apps such as Organic Maps and OsmAnd can be renamed and sent without internet while your phone remains connected to Garmin. Map previews, address searches and Google Maps short links require internet. Google Maps directions links share the final destination as a waypoint; Garmin calculates the route. SHARE ROUTE FILES Export a GPX, FIT, TCX or KML route from Komoot, Strava, Ride with GPS or another planner, then use Share or Open With → Maps Share. Preview the complete route on the OpenStreetMap map, choose the receiving Garmin in Paired Devices and tap Send to Garmin. On your Garmin, open Settings → Connect IQ → Maps Share to receive the route. If a transfer is waiting, open Garmin Connect on your phone, select that exact Garmin and tap Sync. Return to Maps Share on your phone afterward. Garmin asks before replacing the current course on supported devices. Course import requires a Garmin with Connect IQ course-import and navigation support and Maps Share 1.1.8 or newer. Replacement while recording was verified on Edge 1040; other models and firmware may behave differently. Other compatible devices retain location sharing. Supports one continuous route up to 10 MB and 10,000 points. Route geometry and elevation are transferred, without custom turn cues, POIs or fitness data. Existing Garmin courses are never deleted automatically: remove an unused course on Garmin if course storage is full. Komoot and Strava route pages require a file export first. Maps Share does not log in to your route-provider account. Route transfers use a temporary local connection on your phone, without public route hosting.
