About this app
Beam reactions, bending moment & deflection equations in fractions
Read full description
Solve statically determinate beams in seconds. Enter your loads and get the support reactions, the bending moment function, and the deflection equation, with every result shown as an exact fraction instead of a rounded decimal. BEAM TYPES • Simply supported beam (two supports) • Cantilevered beam (fixed at the origin) VECTOR INPUTS Every input box accepts a list of values, so you can solve a beam with many loads in a single calculation. • Type values separated by commas or spaces, for example: 2, 5, 6 • Use e for powers of ten: e means ×10^, so 12e3 = 12 × 10³ = 12000 and 5e-2 = 0.05 • Enter several point loads and their positions at once • Enter several uniform loads with their start and end positions at once • Values in the same group are matched by order, so the first load goes with the first position, the second with the second, and so on • The app tells you if the groups have different numbers of values WHAT YOU CAN ENTER • Point loads in the y, z and x directions, with their positions • Uniform loads in the y and z directions, with their start and end positions • Support positions on the x-axis (simply supported beam) WHAT YOU GET • Support reactions (or the fixed-end reaction and moment for a cantilever) • Bending moment function for the y-axis and z-axis, written as a single singularity (Macaulay) function using ⟨x−a⟩ brackets • Deflection equations for the y-axis and z-axis in terms of EI • Integration constants c1, c2, C1 and C2 for the simply supported beam • Exact fraction results, so values like 2/3 are not rounded to 0.6667 • One-tap copy of all results to paste into your notes or report BUILT FOR Civil, mechanical and structural engineering students, teachers, and anyone who needs to check beam calculations by hand or verify homework and design answers quickly. NOTES • Supports statically determinate beams only. • The simply supported beam needs exactly two supports. • Deflection results are given in terms of EI (flexural rigidity). • Please verify critical results independently before using them in real structural design.
