Cantonese voice typing keyboard: Cantonese + English together. Jyutping, Cangjie
Read full description
OmuType is a Cantonese keyboard and Cantonese voice typing app (speech to text) for Android, built for Hong Kong: Cantonese and English in one sentence, Jyutping, Cangjie, Quick and Stroke input, all in Traditional Chinese. Talk the way you actually talk — Cantonese with English in the middle — and it types it right, in one go, without switching keyboards.
CANTONESE VOICE TYPING THAT KEEPS YOUR ENGLISH
Hold the mic, speak, let go. "我 send 咗個 Figma link 畀你,你 check 下先" comes out exactly like that: English words stay English, Cantonese stays Cantonese, never Mandarin written forms, never Simplified characters. When you finish, OmuType listens to the whole sentence again and swaps only the words it misheard, in place — homophones, names and brands. The cursor stays put and one tap undoes it.
✦ A SECOND READ BY AI
Tap ✦ and AI reads the sentence at your cursor the way the recipient will, fixing what makes no sense (倉蠅同速成 → 倉頡同速成). It keeps your tone, your Cantonese and your English; it does not rewrite you.
HONG KONG TRADITIONAL CHINESE, NEVER SIMPLIFIED
If speech recognition returns a Simplified character, OmuType converts it to Hong Kong Traditional before it types, and the same happens after any AI rewrite. The Cangjie and Quick dictionaries leave out Simplified-only characters, and every Jyutping candidate is Traditional. Glyphs follow Hong Kong usage: 裏, 着, 為.
SAID IT WRONG? SAY THE FIX
Say "not Mandy, Wendy" (唔係 Mandy,係 Wendy) and only that word changes. You can also say:
• "shorter" (短啲) — shortens the whole message
• "in English" (用英文) — rewrites it in English
• "more polite" (客氣啲)
• "send it" (send 出去) — asks you to confirm, then sends
One tap undoes any change.
JYUTPING KEYBOARD, CANGJIE, QUICK AND STROKE, WITH ENGLISH IN THE SAME ROW
• Lazy Jyutping (粵拼): no tones, no need to finish the syllable — tinlau gives 填漏
• Cangjie (倉頡) and Quick (速成), with radicals shown on the keys
• Stroke (筆劃): five stroke keys, for anyone who doesn't use Jyutping or Cangjie
• English candidates next to Chinese: type nei for 你, type email for email
• Spaces between Chinese and English added for you
• English autocorrect, including missed spaces (mucgbitter → much better)
KEYWORDS: THE MORE YOU ADD, THE BETTER IT HEARS
Names, company names and product names are what voice typing gets wrong. Add them as Keywords and OmuType matches what it hears to your spelling, by sound: 卡神 comes out as Kason. Select a word in any app and choose "Add to OmuType keywords", or ask the AI you already use (ChatGPT, Gemini) to list the names you use and paste its answer in.
