WHY PASSBOOK ONE NEEDS SMS ACCESS Passbook One reads SMS on your device to find bank transaction alerts and turn them into your passbook. This is the app's core function — without it there is nothing to show you. Matching happens on your phone, only the parsed transaction details are backed up, and messages that are not bank alerts are ignored. You can use the app without granting SMS access, but it will not be able to detect new transactions.
