Explore camera focus ranges, explicit lens assumptions and your local fieldbook.
Explore depth of field with your lens and focus assumptions clearly in view. DOF & Hyperfocal Calculator brings near limit, far limit, total depth of field and hyperfocal distance into one optical study.
CORE CALCULATIONS — FREE
• Enter actual focal length, aperture, focus distance and circle of confusion.
• Choose Manual, Hyperfocal or Infinity focus.
• Read all four numerical results together.
• Explore a schematic focus band, clearly labelled as not to scale.
• Switch meters and feet while preserving the working distance.
• Choose a labelled generic CoC assumption or enter your own value.
• Start with a built-in 50 mm example and read the optical assumptions.
• Use light, dark or system appearance.
YOUR OPTICAL FIELDBOOK
The optional Lifetime Pro upgrade adds creation of named field cards and lens setups, calculation history, favorites, fixed-distance comparisons, custom CoC profiles and study exports. Keep notes with your own optical work and return to the assumptions behind a saved result.
Lifetime Pro is one non-consumable purchase, not a subscription. Google Play shows the current price for your region before payment. Use Restore purchases with the same Play account. Both Free and Pro have no ads. Existing saved records remain accessible and editable when Pro is unavailable; recovery backup and import remain available in Free.
LOCAL WORK, NO APP ACCOUNT
Core calculations work offline. Your draft, fieldbook records, notes and preferences stay on your device during normal use. Save a recovery JSON copy to a document destination you choose, then review an import before applying it. Purchase ownership is kept separate from backup files. Google Play purchase and restore checks need Play services and may need a connection. Google handles billing and billing-service diagnostics.
EXPLICIT ASSUMPTIONS
Use actual focal length, not 35 mm equivalent. Generic circle-of-confusion values are transparent assumptions, not a maintained camera or lens database. Input edits clear obsolete results until you calculate again.
Results are optical estimates, not guarantees of photographic sharpness. Macro and pupil magnification are not modeled. The focus sketch is schematic and not to scale.
Make your assumptions explicit, explore your focus range, and keep your own optical fieldbook.
