GPS NMEA Tether turns your Android phone into a wireless Bluetooth GPS source by streaming standard NMEA 0183 sentences over Bluetooth Classic SPP (RFCOMM). Connect to chartplotters, flight computers, head units, handheld radios, or any device that accepts serial GPS input. YOUR PHONE IS ALREADY A GPS RECEIVER Modern smartphones have excellent GPS hardware. GPS NMEA Tether unlocks that capability for external devices by broadcasting standard NMEA sentences over Bluetooth Serial Port Profile — the same protocol used by dedicated marine and aviation GPS receivers. WORKS WITH YOUR DEVICES Any device that accepts NMEA 0183 serial input over Bluetooth SPP can connect: - Chartplotters and marine navigation systems - Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) and portable EFIS displays - Aftermarket car head units and dash cameras - Handheld VHF radios with GPS input - Fleet tracking and OBD-II logging devices - GIS data collectors and mapping software - Laptop navigation applications FULL NMEA 0183 SUPPORT Generates six standard sentence types: - GGA — Position fix, altitude, satellite count - RMC — Position, speed, course, date - VTG — Course and speed over ground - GSA — Satellite IDs and dilution of precision - GSV — Satellites in view with signal strength - ZDA — UTC date and time All sentences include valid checksums. Supports raw NMEA passthrough when available from Android for maximum fidelity. A persistent notification shows connection status, fix quality, and satellite count.
