3D games that start the moment you tap them — no install, no sign-up, no waiting. GamerX is an arcade you browse like a feed and play like a console. Pick a game and it starts. There is no second download, no 300 MB wait to find out you didn't like it, and no account screen standing between you and the first thirty seconds. The whole catalogue is this one app, and it keeps growing. ■ WHAT'S IN IT Every game is built in 3D, across four shelves: • RUNNERS — Sliding Wave, Blizzard Peak, Trail Blitz, Helmet Hero, Sticky Sweep, Crowd Rush • ARCADE & PUZZLE — Arrow Escape, Spring Shot, Snap Route, Tilt Sort, Riot Line, Ludo Legends • SIMULATION & EXPLORATION — Quiet Hours, Airfoil, Broadside, Current Swim, Shadow Walk • RACING — Fare City, Moto Titans, Transform Race From a taxi shift you have to read at speed, to an alpine pass on a motorcycle that genuinely leans, to a night shift in a building that is not empty. They are short games, and they are meant to be — the good ones are the ones you can finish on a bus. ■ BUILT FOR A THUMB Every game in the collection plays with touch. Not one of them needs a keyboard or a controller to be enjoyable, because the ones that did were left out. Some play upright and some turn the phone sideways; the app handles the switch for you and keeps the screen awake while you're in a run. ■ SCORES WORTH CHASING Most of the games keep a leaderboard, and a good number of them run a daily challenge — the same layout for everybody that day, so a good score actually means something. You can play under a name or stay anonymous. There is no account either way. ■ WHAT IT DOESN'T DO This is the part we'd want to read first, so it isn't buried at the bottom: • NO ADS. Not between games, not before a run, not anywhere. • NO SIGN-UP. No email, no phone number, no social login. • NO TRACKING SDKs. The app ships no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDK. • ONE PERMISSION. Internet access, and nothing else. No location, no storage, no camera, no contacts. • NO PAYMENTS. Every game is free and none of them sells anything. The games don't phone anybody either. Everything a game needs — its code, models, sounds and fonts — comes from our own servers, and an automated check fails the build if one ever starts making an outside request. ■ ONE HONEST CATCH GamerX streams its games, so it needs an internet connection. That's the trade that makes a whole arcade fit in a small download instead of a huge one, and it means new games show up without you reinstalling anything. If you need something to play on a plane, this isn't it — and we'd rather say so here than have you find out at 30,000 feet. ■ WHO MADE IT GamerX is a small independent studio. Every game in the app was built in-house, and the arcade behind it has been running at gamerx.live for years. New games land in the app as they're finished.
