Read with smooth scrolling, sharp zoom, Go to page and Night mode, and open PDFs from your chat, email or files app. New Tools: Scan to PDF, Images to PDF, Merge, Split, Lock, Unlock and Print. Translation runs on your device. The app is now in 11 languages. It shows ads and Pro is no longer sold; if you paid to remove ads, they stay off on this phone (not after a reinstall).

PDF Reader & Translator is a free PDF reader for Android with translation and PDF tools built in. Open a PDF from the app or from your chat, email or files app, read it comfortably, translate it into more than 50 languages right on your phone, and scan, merge, split or lock PDFs. READ PDFS COMFORTABLY • Smooth continuous scrolling through every page • Pinch or double-tap to zoom up to 4x; the page is redrawn sharp when you stop • A page counter (for example 12 / 40) and Go to page for long documents • Night mode for reading in the dark • Picks up on the page where you stopped, also after you close the app • Tap the page to hide the bars and read full screen; the screen stays on while you read • Print a PDF or share it with another app • Password-protected PDFs open on Android 15 and later OPEN PDFS FROM ANY APP • Tap Open PDF to choose a file with Android's file picker • Or tap a PDF in your chat, email, cloud or files app and choose PDF Reader & Translator ("Open with" or "Share") • Files from cloud and mail apps are fetched with a progress bar, and you can cancel • Recent and Favorites keep the PDFs you open with Open PDF one tap away; files on your phone show a preview of their first page • Star the files you need often, search your list by name, and continue reading where you left off • A file that was moved or deleted, or that another app shared only for a while (many chat and email apps do), is marked as unavailable: find it again or remove it from the list The app lists the PDFs you open with it. It does not scan your phone and does not ask for access to all your files or photos. PDF TOOLS • Scan to PDF: turn paper pages into a PDF with the document scanner from Google Play services (on phones that support it) • Images to PDF: turn photos into one PDF • Merge PDF: join two or more PDFs in the order you choose • Split PDF: make a new PDF from the pages you pick, for example 1-3, 5 • Lock PDF: protect a PDF with a password (AES-256 encryption) • Unlock PDF: enter the password of a PDF that asks for one and save a copy that opens without it • Print PDF • Every new PDF is saved where you choose. The app does not keep or log the passwords you type. TRANSLATE ON YOUR DEVICE • Translate a PDF or a text file into more than 50 languages • Translate printed text from a photo or with the camera • Detect the source language automatically, listen to the translation, copy it or share it • Translation runs on your device: each language is downloaded once (about 30 MB, over Wi-Fi unless you choose otherwise), then translation works without an internet connection • Translations are produced by machine translation and can contain mistakes. Check important documents with a person. • PDF translation needs text in the PDF: a scanned PDF made only of images has none. IN YOUR LANGUAGE The app itself is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Russian, Turkish, Vietnamese and Arabic. Change it at any time in the app menu (App language). PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Your PDFs are opened, translated and processed on your phone and are not uploaded • Your recent files, favorites and reading positions stay on your phone and are never sent anywhere; remove any file from the list at any time • No account and no sign-in • No storage or photo permission: you choose every file yourself • The camera is used only when you scan a document or translate with the camera FREE, WITH ADS The app is free and shows ads, for example a full-screen ad when the app starts and a banner below the page while you read. Where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent before showing ads, and you can change your choice under Privacy options in the app menu. The privacy policy explains what the app and the Google services in it (ads, consent, analytics, crash reports, remote settings and language downloads) do with data.
