First public release. Unloop counts the reels and Shorts you watch in Instagram and YouTube, then gets progressively harder to ignore: a quiet nudge first, then a full-screen pause, then a timed lock if you keep scrolling. Also included: • Guard windows – set hours when reels are off entirely • Daily and weekly insights, with streaks • Three strictness modes: Light, Balanced and Focus
About this app
Interrupts compulsive Reels & Shorts scrolling before it eats your day.
Unloop breaks the reel habit — not with willpower, but with friction. It watches for Reels and Shorts on Instagram and YouTube, counts what you actually watch, and steps in as a session goes on: a quiet nudge first, then a full-screen pause with an honest look at how long you've been scrolling, then a timed lock if you keep going. Each lock runs longer than the last one that day. HOW IT WORKS • Soft nudge — "Still scrolling?" with your count so far, easy to dismiss • Deep friction — a longer pause, showing exactly how many reels and how much time • Session lock — the feed closes for a stretch that grows with repeat visits • Guard windows — set hours where reels are off entirely, no exceptions THREE MODES Pick how strict you want it: Light for a gentle reminder, Balanced for everyday use, or Focus for a hard limit. INSIGHTS See today's count, your weekly pattern, your peak scrolling window, and your current streak of staying under your own limit. WHY ACCESSIBILITY ACCESS Detecting that a Reels or Shorts feed is on screen is only possible through Android's Accessibility API — there's no other way for an app to know what another app is displaying. Unloop uses it for exactly one thing: recognising a short-video feed in Instagram or YouTube, so it can show its own overlay. It never reads anything else on your screen, and it works only inside those two apps. WHAT WE DON'T DO No ads. No content feed of our own. No selling your data. Reel counts and timestamps are yours, tied to your account, never shown to anyone else, and deleted the moment you delete your account. Unloop doesn't stop you from scrolling. It just makes sure you're choosing to, every single time.
