New: optional Google backup. Turn on "Back up to your Google account" in Settings to add your notification history, rules and settings to your phone's backup, encrypted with your screen lock so neither we nor Google can read it. It's off by default, so nothing leaves your phone unless you choose to. The same switch moves your data when you set up a new phone. Also: Rewind now recovers notifications posted while it was restarting, and your rules apply from the very first one.
Notification history that stays on your phone.
Rewind is your notification history. It quietly keeps a searchable record of everything that hits your shade, so a message you swiped away, an OTP you missed, or a photo that vanished is never actually gone. WHAT REWIND DOES • Full notification history on a clean, day-grouped timeline • Search everything, filter by app, and keep starred and hidden views • Capture controls: pause anytime, skip ongoing notifications, skip text per app, and blocklist any app • Keep history for 1 to 7 days, or up to 365 days and unlimited with Pro • Per-app retention: keep WhatsApp forever, clear Instagram daily (Pro) • Automation rules for patterns like "star any OTP code" or "hide promo pushes", with time-bounded active hours so a rule only fires during work, weekends, or whenever you decide. One rule free, unlimited with Pro • Capture inline images from notifications that carry them, like WhatsApp photos and YouTube thumbnails. Long-press any captured image to save it to your gallery (Pro) • Snooze notifications back to the shade for later (Pro) • Daily and weekly digests delivered at the time you choose (Pro) • Morning recap of everything that arrived overnight (Pro) • Analytics: per-app drill-in, top channels, loudest hour, 3am offenders, daily counts, and an hourly heatmap (Pro) • Home-screen heatmap widget (Pro) • Quick Settings tile holding the latest verification code, copied with one tap (Pro) • Export your history through the system file picker: CSV free, JSON and PDF with Pro • Password-protected encrypted backup files that you save wherever you like (Pro) • Back up to your Google account: optional, off by default, encrypted by Android with your screen lock, and the same switch carries your data when you set up a new phone from this one PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN ENGLISH Rewind asks for notification access, the system grant that lets a notification utility see what is on your shade. It also asks for permission to post its own notifications for the digest, recap, and snooze redeliveries. Reading your starred contacts is opt-in: Rewind only requests this permission the first time you tap "Pick from starred contacts" inside the rule editor, and only to build a local match condition. The names never leave your device. If you skip the picker, the permission is never requested. Rewind does not request location, microphone, camera, photos, files, calendar, SMS, or your call log. PRIVACY AS THE FOUNDATION, NOT A FEATURE Notification content is one of the most personal data streams on your phone. Banking, dating apps, work, family. Rewind has no servers, bundles no analytics SDKs, reads no advertising IDs, and runs no background sync. Nothing is ever sent to the developer, and no part of your history is shared with anyone. One switch, off by default, decides whether a copy exists anywhere else. "Back up to your Google account" adds your history to the device backup Android already keeps for your other apps, in your own Google account, encrypted with your screen lock so that neither we nor Google can read it. Captured images are never part of that copy. Leave the switch off and everything stays on this device. The published privacy policy at https://mus91.github.io/rewind-legal/ is the source of truth, and it describes exactly what the backup holds. PRICING Rewind is free: the full history timeline, search and filters, capture controls, one automation rule, up to 7 days of retention, and CSV export. Pro is a one-time purchase, restorable through Google Play, and unlocks longer retention up to unlimited, per-app retention, unlimited rules, captured images, snooze, digests, the morning recap, analytics, the home-screen widget, the verification-code tile, encrypted backup files, and JSON and PDF export. No subscriptions, no recurring charges, ever.
