Everyone sees the secret word. Everyone but one. Find the impostor.
Everyone gets the same secret word. Everyone but one.
That's the Imposter, and they have no idea what it is. Taking turns, each player drops a clue about the word… without being too obvious. If you're a citizen, prove you know it without giving it away. If you're the imposter, lie, improvise and don't raise suspicion.
Once everyone has spoken, the moment comes: vote for who you think it is.
HOW IT WORKS
• Everyone sees the secret word except the imposter
• A round of clues, one player at a time
• Debate and vote
• Citizens win if they catch them; the imposter wins by slipping through… or by guessing the word
WAYS TO PLAY
• Pass one phone around, 3 to 12 players
• Or everyone on their own phone, in online rooms with a code
• At home, at a party, in the car or over a video call
WHAT'S IN IT
• Thousands of words across dozens of topics: animals, food, films, sports, celebrities…
• Topics made by the community, plus the ones you write
• Special roles: Jester, Seer and random imposters
• Drawing mode and elimination rounds
• Ranks and levels: from novice to master imposter
• Works offline, no sign-up needed to play on one phone
WHEN TO PULL IT OUT
• Dinners that turn into long conversations
• Parties, birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties
• Long trips: car, train, plane — it works offline
• Summer camp, hikes and sleepovers
• New Year's Eve and family get-togethers
• Class, campus or team: a five-minute icebreaker
• Over a video call, everyone at home
IF YOU LIKE GAMES ABOUT…
• Hidden roles and bluffing
• Social deduction: lying well and catching the liar
• Guessing words from clues
• Board games with no board and no cards
• Party games for big groups
QUICK QUESTIONS
• How many people? Three is enough; five or more is where it gets good.
• Do I need internet? Not to play passing one phone around.
• Do I need an account? Not for one-phone games either.
• How long is a round? Five to ten minutes.
• Can kids play? Yes — there are easy topics, and you can write your own.
Every round is different. The fun isn't in the word — it's in the face of the one who doesn't know it.
