The application, designed and developed by Fondazione Promozione Acciaio, has been tested by leading companies that develop executive projects, architectural design firms, and structural engineers. Steel Sections is available for mobile, PC, and tablet devices to ensure flexible and integrated use across multiple devices, and is also available in English. Steel Sections offers a comprehensive catalog of over 9,000 steel profiles: • IPE, IPN • HE, HD, HL, HLZ, HP • T • UPN, UPE, U • Equal- and unequal-sided angles • Hot-finished and cold-formed circular, square, and rectangular hollow sections • Heavy plates • Sheet piles • Cold-formed thin-section sections (CFS) • Sandwich panels The app includes the following features: • Commercial availability of profiles: availability, procurement times, and minimum quantities • Quick creation of bills of materials and export in CSV and text formats for bills of quantities and for requesting quotes and supplies • Search for profiles and consult geometric data by category: quick search and advanced filter search • Beam verification: stress and deformation calculations for single-span beams, Ultimate Limit State (ULS) resistance checks, and Serviceability Limit State (SSL) deformability checks. Applicable to changes in the constraint scheme, floor span, load type, profile type and arrangement, and steel grade. • Through-thickness plate verification • Mass and surface area calculation per unit length • Critical load calculation for beams • Design resistance calculation for cross-sections • Stress and deformation calculation for statically and statically inert beams • Favorites section where you can save up to 50 profiles • Compare function to compare the characteristics of different profiles Future implementations will include additional products and features.
