Get notified on your smartphone before Sakurajima's ash hits. You'll be notified when an eruption is forecast and ash is expected to reach your area. Take precautions against ashfall on your laundry, windows, and car as soon as possible.
Have you only noticed the ash from Sakurajima after it's fallen? Ashfall from Sakurajima is unavoidable for those living in Kagoshima. "I left my laundry hanging outside when I went out." "My room is gritty because I left the window open." "Ash has accumulated on my car's windshield." The Sakurajima Ashfall Alert is an app that notifies your smartphone when Sakurajima erupts and ash is forecast to head towards your chosen area. Bring in your laundry. Close your windows. Adjust your timing when you go out. To help you take precautions against ashfall as quickly as possible. ◯It's easy to use. Just select the direction you want to be notified from. No need to register your address or current location. Simply tap to select the direction from which you want to be notified when ash is drifting from Sakurajima. Example: For Kagoshima city center, select "West Area." You can select multiple areas from 8 directions. Notifications will be sent when the following three conditions are met. 1. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) announces eruption and ashfall information for Sakurajima. 2. Forecast of ash heading towards your selected area. 3. Within your set notification time frame and day of the week. You can set notifications to not be sent during times and days you don't need them. ◯ Example of a notification: "12:34 Sakurajima erupted. Ash is heading approximately 50km north (towards Kajiki, Aira City). Small volcanic rocks are heading approximately 3km north." Based on information released by the JMA, we will inform you of the direction and distance of ashfall. We do not provide predictions of arrival times such as "how many minutes until the ash arrives." ◯ Where will the ash go if it erupts now? On the home screen, you can see at a glance on a map which direction the ash is forecast to flow if Sakurajima erupts now. By moving the time frame, you can also check the forecast of ashfall direction due to changes in wind direction. You can also check the Sakurajima eruption alert level and warnings issued by the JMA from the app. ◯Main Features - Automatic push notifications upon detection of Sakurajima eruption and ashfall information - Select multiple notification areas from 8 directions - Set notification time zones - Individually turn notification days ON/OFF - Check the map to see "where ash will flow if an eruption occurs now" - Check changes in ashfall direction by time zone - Display Sakurajima's eruption alert level - Display warnings issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) - Simple screen focused on essential information ◯Notification Mechanism and Precautions This app notifies based on eruption and ashfall information (disaster prevention information XML) issued by the JMA. Therefore, notifications cannot be sent if the JMA has not issued relevant information. If the JMA cannot confirm an eruption due to bad weather, etc., notifications may not be sent even if ashfall is actually occurring. If the JMA subsequently issues relevant information, notifications will be sent based on that information. Also, small-scale plumes of smoke not included in the JMA's announcements are not included in notifications. Please use the notifications from this app as an aid to become aware of ashfall and eruption information, rather than as disaster prevention information itself. ◯ Privacy This app does not acquire location information such as GPS. The direction of notifications is determined based on the area manually selected by the user. Furthermore, registration of name, email address, phone number, and address is not required. ◯ Basic features are free to use Basic functions such as notification, multiple area selection, and checking ashfall forecasts are available for free.
