About this app
Dual N-Back training that adapts to you. Build working memory and focus daily.
nback is a Dual N-Back trainer with one job: give you a clean, quiet place to practise. WHAT DUAL N-BACK IS A position lights up on a 3x3 grid while a letter is spoken. Your task is to mark whenever the position or the sound matches what came N steps earlier. Both channels run at once, which is what makes it demanding — you are holding and updating two streams at the same time. Easy to learn in thirty seconds. Hard to hold on to for twenty minutes. That gap is the training. HOW nback TRAINS Visual and audio channels run together, the way Dual N-Back is meant to be practised. The level adapts to how you actually perform. Hit your accuracy target and N goes up. Struggle and it eases back, so you stay in the range where the work is productive rather than discouraging. Every session is scored on accuracy, not on a vague point total, so you can see whether you are genuinely holding the sequence or guessing. TRACK YOUR PRACTICE Accuracy and session history over time Streaks for consecutive days trained XP as you accumulate practice Higher N levels unlock as your accuracy holds BUILT TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY Material Design 3 throughout, light and dark No ads mid-session, no popups, no streak-guilt notifications Smooth, restrained animations Dark mode tuned for long evening sessions Everything reachable in one or two taps WHO IT IS FOR People who already know Dual N-Back and want a version that respects their time. People who want a short, structured daily routine that asks for real attention. Anyone who prefers a tool that does one thing properly over an app that does eight things loudly. Ten minutes a day is a reasonable place to start. nback is free, works offline, and does not need an account.
