An integrated digital platform to support governance and knowledge management for Iraqi civil society.
The CiviSpace platform is a comprehensive, Arabic-language enterprise digital platform developed specifically to support civil society organizations and humanitarian and development institutions in Iraq, as part of a 2026 Oxfam-funded project. The platform aims to enhance corporate governance and digital transformation within Iraqi organizations, providing a secure online environment that helps institutions easily and professionally access policies, procedures, laws, and organizational manuals. The platform is designed according to modern standards, focusing on the Arabic language and full RTL functionality, with user-friendly interfaces that support enterprise operations and digital governance. It also supports operation as a projectable web application (PWA) and a standalone Android application. The platform is based on a modern technological architecture that includes: * React 18 * Vite 5 * TypeScript * Tailwind CSS * Supabase/PostgreSQL * Edge Functions * Row Level Security (RLS). It also utilizes professional Arabic fonts such as Cairo and Amiri to ensure clear text and a comfortable user experience in Arabic. The platform relies on a structured institutional login system that begins with selecting one of 18 Iraqi governorates. Users then choose their organization's name from a database of over 6,500 civil society organizations within Iraq, utilizing an automatic search function. Login is then granted according to specific permissions for administrators and users, with visits and sessions being logged and tracked for governance and monitoring purposes. The "Civil Space" platform comprises several interconnected main modules: First: The Institutional Policy Development Portal This is the platform's core portal, focusing on developing organizations' capabilities in governance and corporate compliance. It includes five main tracks: * Governance and Compliance * Security * Administration and Human Resources * Partnerships and Procurement * Risk Management * These tracks contain organizational policies and guidelines such as: * Code of Conduct * Anti-Fraud Policy * Conflict of Interest Policy * Complaints Policy * Conflict and Risk Management Policies * The portal also features an interactive Intro Reel with professional Arabic voiceover explaining how to use the platform and navigate the different tracks upon each login. Second: The Knowledge Library This is an advanced digital library that allows viewing and downloading institutional documents, training materials, laws, and various media, including: * PDF files with automatic thumbnail creation * PowerPoint files with in-browser preview * Videos and images * Preview before downloading * Access and download permission management Third: The Laws and Regulations Section This section is dedicated to displaying official laws, regulations, and legal documents related to the work of civil society organizations, with the same protection and approval mechanism used for downloading. Fourth: The Institutional Communication System This system provides an internal model for communication and sending messages without using email, for security and privacy reasons. It includes: * Internal messaging form * Admin inbox * Public replies * Message and follow counter From a security standpoint, the platform relies on an advanced protection system that includes: * Preventing all direct client input * Executing sensitive operations via Edge Functions with secure permissions * Admin permissions and token system * Audit log * File upload approval system * Temporary document access permissions The platform also includes an advanced Admin Dashboard that allows the admin to manage: * Documents and content * Rules * Videos and images * Messages and replies * Organizations and visitors * Passwords and permissions * Visual identity and logos The platform's visual identity is designed in a modern style that focuses on: * Full Arabic RTL interfaces * Modern Neumorphic buttons * Ink Blue gradients * 3D gold text * Responsive design for phones and tablets The platform has also been optimized for search engines (SEO) under the name: "CiviSpace – Civil Space"
