Auto Reader gives you a page that turns itself. Lean back with a web novel, a long story, a comic or an in-depth article, pick a comfortable reading pace, and let smooth scrolling carry the text up the screen while you simply read.
Made for relaxed reading: evenings on the sofa, one more chapter before bed, a long commute.
✦ Getting started
1. Turn on the Auto Reader service. A short disclosure explains what it does and never does, then a guide walks you through Android settings, including "Restricted setting".
2. Open your story, comic or article.
3. Press play on the floating panel and settle in. Tap + or − until the pace matches your reading.
✦ Smooth, steady reading
• Text glides upward in short linked movements, so lines stay readable and you keep your place.
• Nine paces from 0.25× to 3×: the slowest suit dense chapters, faster ones suit dialogue and light reads.
• Fine-tune the pace mid-chapter without stopping.
✦ Made for reading in bed
• Sleep timer (Premium): stop after 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes in case you drift off.
• Low battery stop: below 15% and not charging, scrolling ends.
• End of chapter: when the page stops moving, scrolling stops too.
✦ Three ways to read
• Continuous: a gentle, steady glide. Free.
• Page flip (Premium): one full screen at a time, every 2 to 60 seconds, close to turning the pages of a book.
• Horizontal (Premium): sideways movement for comic strips and other wide pages; reverse it to go the other way.
✦ Stay in control
• Touch the screen to hold the page for a re-read. It continues after 2, 3, 5 or 10 seconds, or only when you press play.
• Opening another app pauses reading, so nothing scrolls in the background.
• Reverse direction to scroll back up.
• Choose the swipe position (left, center or right) and stroke length to steer clear of buttons. Strokes avoid the system bars and gesture edges.
✦ Each reading app, its own pace
• Show the panel everywhere or only in your reading apps. You build the list; it starts empty.
• Your pace is remembered per app (one app free, all apps with Premium), so a novel app and a news app keep their own speed.
• Drag the panel aside, or show and hide it from the notification and a Quick Settings tile.
✦ When the panel does not appear
"Can't see the panel?" checks the service, panel, app list, system window, battery and notifications, and suggests a one-tap fix. If Android shuts the service down, the app tells you how to get it back. No ads during setup or help.
✦ About the Accessibility service
Auto Reader uses the Android Accessibility API, the only way for an app to swipe inside other apps. The service performs the scroll gestures, and only after you press play. It also receives the name of the app in front, to show the panel only in apps you chose and apply your saved pace, and scroll-position numbers, to stop at the end of a page.
• It never reads the text, images, passwords or anything else on screen, not even the story you are reading.
• It never taps or types on your behalf.
• Nothing is collected through it: nothing is stored off your device, sent or shared.
You read this disclosure and agree to it in the app before the service is enabled.
✦ Permissions
• Notifications (Android 13+): a notification with play, pause and panel buttons.
• Internet: ads, Google Play purchases, anonymous usage and crash statistics.
✦ Premium
Auto Reader is free with ads, shown only inside the app (a banner and occasional full-screen ads), never over your reading. Premium removes ads and adds page flip, horizontal reading, the sleep timer and a remembered pace in every app. Monthly, yearly or a one-time lifetime purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel; manage them anytime in Google Play.
✦ Privacy
No account. Paces, your app list and settings are stored only on your phone. Anonymous statistics and crash reports never include what you read.
