App is great but customer service is terrible Overall I enjoy the WebNovel app with its variety of books and events to engage readers but have discovered that some of there events have scam pop ups and that their customer service is terrible. In the recent Halloween 2026 event it encourages you to buy badges that you don’t need. I tried to exit and somehow the system purchased it in error and debited my account. When I tried to fix it, the real nightmare began. It took 14 attempts to get online customer service to connect with me after uninstalling and reinstalling the app and doing a variety of work around a. The agent Christian was horrible, rude, unprofessional and very unaccommodating. He kept ignoring my request to ask for a supervisor five times and hung up the call on me twice and never helped refund the coins I asked for. The online customer service does not offer an easy way to file a complaint to remedy bad service like this. Or a phone number to call as well. Therefore, be careful of pop ups and the customer service by web novel since they don’t care about their clients. Been on the membership and paid hundreds over the years but they couldn’t help me the one time I needed it.
Bad Recent Updates Updates screw with layout making it harder to read with. With no setting to fix what was done to the app. When going to website to try and read after update wrecked app it stops you from reading telling you to go to the ruined app.

Interface problems App function is fine, but the UI interface keeps getting worse and worse and it feels like the developers are not doing anything about it. Sometimes it’s fine, and then out of nowhere that you are goes bad and stops working properly for several weeks to even a few months and just recently it got worse again. I don’t know why the developers have not fixed this UI changing problem yet.
Lots of junk, but some gems too. Best for casual/slow readers. Best for casual readers otherwise it gets really expensive. You will have to sort through a lot of chaff for the few genuine good gems. The text box for comments and reviews is awful! Hard to correct text and wants to steal your clipboard even if you don’t try to paste. 2026 update: the rotation isn’t fixed. Deleting and reinstalling doesn’t work. I got a new iPad and it worked for a couple weeks. Except it was emulating a portrait phone in landscape mode, which led to a narrow screen with mostly wasted space. 🤦🏾♂️ Also the text entry is STILL awful. Other than trivial text input, the app sucks. Good luck trying to proofread or edit text before posting. The app is more likely to lose your comment or review than let you fix your text. It’s so frustrating. This is the #1 reason the app crashes. If you want to read, the app works well. If you want to review or comment, it’s a ZERO star experience. Also replies to threads only go to the person being replied to. 10 comment in a thread, only one will get notified of replies. Very poorly thought out and this is after years! Technically this complaint is a platform problem, not an app problem, but it really hinders social engagement. The implementation is short sighted as an “easy” solution but not holistically thought out. The platform is a money grubbing entity that encourages you to spend money to get things like “2023 New Years” badges/frames (in 2026). Their events are stupid and often ploys to trick you. Often they recycle rewards so you might complete tasks and get an old (meaningless digital reward). The authors are worth supporting but the platform is essentially predatory (especially towards authors). If you are an author read any contract carefully and make sure not to give up your IP rights. This company will totally take advantage of you. READ THE FINE PRINT! Summer 2026 update: I have more complaints but the App Store has lost my updated review at least 5 times. None of the above has been fixed although WebNovel emailed me saying rotation was resolved (it wasn’t). Fall 2026: rotation is finally fixed (but in the most unusable way)! But now we have ultra wide margins driving me nuts! 🤦🏾♂️😡 Let me select my own options (e.g. font size, page margins, line spacing, columns)! So much wasted real estate. Also wish the app supported OpenDyslexic font.
Wants your money No option to watch an ad to read the next chapter. In fact, when you get to the locked chapter that requires payment, it says “Gotcha”. Don’t bother with this app. Besides, it has AI stories. Not even worth a whole star rating.
Audio book randomly stops I really like WebNovel. I use it probably three or four times a week but lately ever since the last update the audiobook feature has really let me down. The audiobook feature continuously stops. There’s no pattern to her or anything like that. It just will randomly stop. It’s very annoying and I would love. To go back to using Web every day, but if this persists, I might have to find a whole new site.
The audio book feature sucks I don’t understand why there’s random times where the audio book feature just seems to stop working. I will be listening with no problems then all of a sudden the voice over just stops reading after it finishes a sentence and I’ll have to wait 5 minutes
Pauses every sentence I’m paying for a app that can only read a sentence at a time at best a paragraph then pauses for 5 mins to catch its breath
AI This is a good app with a wide range of genres and new stories. The chapter unlocks are reasonably priced. My main complaint is the horrendous AI audible aid, both on & off line….very unreliable and inconsistent with language switches frequently mid sentence. This leads to visual impaired audiences not having support.
