RodentFlow 2.0 brings three ways of tracking into one app: • Classic centroid tracking — the RodentFlow 1.3 method, unchanged. Your existing results open as before. • One-mouse pose — six keypoints per frame (nose, ears, neck, body centre, tail base) for open field, three-chamber, novel object, plus maze, Barnes, Y- and T-maze and more. • Two-mouse pose — both animals tracked with A / B identities for social interaction and resident–intruder (aggression) tests. Also new: • Multi-chamber tail suspension test. • If the tracking leaves the calibrated arena, the review points it out on the timeline and the frame-by-frame data flag those frames, so they are easy to check or leave out. • Heat maps for three-chamber and novel object recognition, and heat maps on the original video frame or side by side with it. • Earlier results on this device are included automatically; RodentPose analyses can be imported in one step. • Remove any part of a figure — cups, objects, zone names, path, legend — before you export it. • Group comparisons on the phone. • iPad support. • Mac sync: analyses are written to a folder you choose (e.g. iCloud Drive), and RodentFlow on the Mac picks them up automatically and checks that it computes the same values.
RodentFlow analyses rodent behaviour videos on your iPhone, iPad and Mac. Import an overhead recording, calibrate the arena, and get the standard measures of the test — with figures and exports you can take straight to R, Python or Prism. THREE WAYS OF TRACKING The app chooses the method for each test: • Classic centroid tracking (background subtraction, 10 Hz), as in RodentFlow 1.x. • One-mouse pose: six body keypoints per frame from an on-device Core ML model. Nose position and head direction make object exploration, sniffing and head dips measurable. • Two-mouse pose: two animals in the same arena with A / B identities decided over the whole video — for social interaction and resident–intruder aggression tests. Identities can be checked and corrected frame by frame. TESTS Open field, elevated plus maze, light–dark box, novel object recognition, three-chamber sociability, social interaction, dyadic social behaviour, resident–intruder, Y-maze, T-maze with VTE, Barnes maze, Morris water maze, fear conditioning (freezing), conditioned place preference, looming escape, rotation, head direction, spatial exploration, multi-chamber tail suspension test, plus manual-entry tests. BUILT FOR A LAB WORKFLOW • Only the calibrated arena is analysed; tracking that leaves the arena is flagged in the review and in the data. • Adjust zones and thresholds after tracking — results update without re-running. • Heat maps, trajectories and timelines; show a heat map on the original video frame to check that hot spots sit where the animal really was. • Remove any figure element (cups, objects, zone names, path, legend) and export publication-ready figures. • Animals, groups, sessions and group statistics on the phone. • English-only CSV / JSON exports with methods text, whatever the interface language (English / 简体中文). IPHONE, IPAD AND MAC One purchase covers all devices. Choose a sync folder (for example in iCloud Drive) and every analysis made on the phone appears on the Mac in its task, group and animal. The Mac version handles long recordings by writing results to disk while it runs, so an interruption never loses the work done, and it recomputes every imported analysis with the same code to confirm the numbers match. PRIVACY Videos are analysed on your device. RodentFlow has no account and collects no data. Sync files go only to the folder you choose. RESEARCH USE Behaviour measures are algorithmic estimates. Validate each test, camera setup and strain against manual scoring before drawing conclusions. Two-mouse identities can switch when the animals overlap; the review screen marks such moments for checking.
