Worst app in the history of apps I’ve had the Thinkware 750 for a long time. The app has always been mediocre, but recently, it absolutely refuses to connect. In troubleshooting solutions, I come here to find out that it’s been 4 years since the lazy developers have bothered updating? Looks my solution will have to be buying a new dash cam. And after this experience, one thing is certain: it won’t be from Thinkware.
The Dashcam is great. This app, not so much. I’ve had the Thinkware Dashcam F750 model, front and rear camera for just over 10 years, it’s a great camera and never had issues with it. This app however has always been buggy. Constant hard time connecting the dashcam to my phone via Wifi. It would eventually connect after 3-5 minutes of fiddling with it. The past few months however this just refuses to connect anymore, even when my iPhone does connect to Thinkware on Wifi, the app simply prompts I “am not connected to Wi-Fi.” It is a 10+ year old app that hasn’t been updated in a long time. I’m not sure if anyone’s looking over this app to make bug fixes anymore? If I need videos now, I just have to remove the memory card and download them to my computer.
New FA200, this app is not working I wanted this to work. Difficulty connecting to phone w/WiFi. Got it to connect once, then app crashed immediately on clicking Settings. I saw the older reviews, thought maybe they’d addressed things. Guess not. *My mistake, this is the wrong app for FA200. I would delete the review if I could.
Trash Never knows how the camera works because we couldnt link it, very bad experience.
App needs work This app constantly crashes and does not connect at all. If you are lucky to get it connected it’ll disconnect from your phone and boot you out of the app. Needs better support for IOS 15. Debating on changing out my F770 dual camera set up for a different company because of this issue. Would give the app 0 stars if I could.
Terrible app, crashes camera I returned the camera because of how horrible and neglected this app is. Settings don’t stick, the app crashes and both the app and camera have to be restarted. Best Buy should remove these products from their store. Thinkware obviously doesn’t care about their products once they’re sold. Avoid anything Thinkware related.
No connection My phone can’t even connect to the dash cam so that I can download videos. What’s the point of even having the app???? $400 just for the camera and the app doesn’t even connect to it. Yes, I have the most recent software updates. Still doesn’t work.
You do not need this app to configure your cam nor to watch videos You don’t need this app to configure your dash cam. Just plug the memory card into your computer, go to the settings folder, click on the settings file and configure there. Reinstall memory card and you’re done In the case of an accident you often cannot use this app because it requires the dash cam to have power. Ie. Engine running. Just buy a micro SD reader for your particular smartphone, throw it into the glovebox and you’re good to go. These hints will save you hours of frustration. The cams are awesome. This app, not so much.

No support for ios14 Original post: It took awhile for company to catch up with ios13 support. Now ios14 is out and the app will not connect again. Update 11/10/20 With the help of Blackboxmycar where I purchased my Thinkware F770, I was able to get the app connected with the unit. I thought I should share here for people who have trouble with ios14.1 Hardware: iphoneX. Ios14.1 Steps: 1. Delete Dash Cam Viewer app and reinstall 2. Reset F770 by holding the Format + Rec buttons together for a few second until the camera starts beeping. 3. Reset the Network Settings of iPhone. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network settings. After above steps, power on F770 and activate WiFi. Then go to iPhone WiFi setting and look for Thinkware WiFi. Generic password is 123456789 Once WiFi is connected, start the DashCam viewer app. It will ask for permission for location service as well as access to network. This protocol did the trick for me. Useless This was a super expensive cam and with some research it was rated as the best. I’ve had it for two years+ and I’ve have my car keyed, kicked in and had the my car broken into. The best video I got was when the car got key I saw two people in the middle of the street and seemed to be the culprit but of course there was no film on the actual activity. The sad card gets full quickly and needs to be replaced The WiFi fails and can only connect to the App when your I. The car. A serious waste of money which they likely used to pay off the great reviews that sucked me in.
