Find duplicate photos & similar shots. On-device scan, no subscription, no ads.
Find duplicate photos and similar photos in your gallery, compare them side by side, and free up storage on your phone.
PhotoSweep groups the repeats in your gallery and moves only the copies you choose to Android's system trash.
Five categories, one scan
PhotoSweep sorts your gallery into Duplicates (exact duplicate photos), Similar (photos that look alike but are not identical), Screenshots, Blurry and Large (photos over 5 MB). Open a group, compare the details, and decide what stays. PhotoSweep works with photos only. It does not scan videos.
Select suggested, you decide
In Duplicates and Similar, tap "Select suggested" to mark copies for removal and keep one photo unselected. The photo that stays is chosen by camera folder, resolution, file size and the date it was added to your gallery. Groups flagged for review are not selected automatically. Nothing moves until you confirm twice: once in the app and once in Android's own prompt.
How removal works
On Android 11 and newer, removed photos go to Android's system trash. From the Recently deleted screen you can restore them or delete them permanently. Android decides how long trashed items are kept, usually 30 days. On Android 7 to 10, moving photos to the trash is not supported. After cleanup, PhotoSweep shows how many items were moved and their total file size.
Your photos stay on your phone
Scanning runs on your device. Your photos, thumbnails and photo hashes are never uploaded. PhotoSweep shows no ads and contains no advertising SDK. Usage statistics and crash reports are off by default and are sent only if you turn them on. Purchases are handled by Google Play Billing and RevenueCat, which connects when the app starts. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Free and Premium
Free: scan your whole gallery as often as you want, compare and select photos, and move up to 50 photos to the trash in any 24-hour period.
Premium Lifetime: one single purchase that removes the 50-photo limit. No subscription. On both plans, one cleanup can include up to 2,000 photos.
Your cleanup, step by step
1. Allow photo access and start a scan. If you allow only some photos, PhotoSweep scans only those.
2. Open a group and compare the pictures.
3. Select the copies you want to remove, or tap "Select suggested".
4. Confirm twice. On Android 11 and newer, the photos move to Android's trash.
When your phone storage is full
Use PhotoSweep as a simple photo cleaner: remove duplicate photos, keep the best of your similar photos, clear old screenshots and blurry shots, and free up storage with a one-time purchase instead of a subscription.
