Explore Revolutionary War sites, check in by GPS, and earn a Patriot Passport.
American Waypoints turns South Carolina's Revolutionary War history into a real-world adventure. Built for the SC250 / America250 commemoration, it guides you to historic sites across Beaufort County — and uses your phone's GPS to confirm you're really there before unlocking each site's story, challenges, and rewards. It's history you walk into, not just read about. HOW IT WORKS • Follow a custom, parchment-style trail map to 10 Revolutionary War sites. • See live distance and directions to each site. • Check in with real GPS when you arrive — and earn a stamp in your Patriot Passport. • Unlock each site's story, quizzes, and activities once you're on location. WHAT YOU'LL DO • Collect Patriot Passport stamps across Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Explorer tiers. • Test yourself with seven kinds of quizzes — multiple choice, true/false, on-site observation, word scramble, timeline ordering, map challenges, and leadership reflections. • Climb a live leaderboard alongside other explorers. • Slide between "then and now" to compare a historic image with the view in front of you. • Take on photo missions that recreate archival scenes. • Keep a private travel journal that never leaves your phone. • Seal a message in a time capsule that stays locked until July 4, 2076. • Sign the public guest book and share your journey with #SC250. BUILT FOR THE TRAIL • Works offline — previously loaded sites keep working with no signal, and your progress syncs when you're back online. • A branded, easy-to-read map made for exploring, not just navigating. PRIVACY YOU CAN TRUST • Your location is used only to confirm on-site check-ins — never for ads, never sold. • Your private journal and time-capsule messages stay on your device. • No account is required to start exploring. Whether you're a student, a history lover, or a family looking for a meaningful day out, American Waypoints makes America's 250th anniversary something you can experience with your own two feet.
