Speaking, Listening, Reading and writing: the fide test from A1 to B1.
Independent, unofficial practice app published by AZSoft. It has no link with the fide Secretariat, the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) or any test centre. The fide test assesses your French or German for residence and naturalisation procedures in Switzerland. It comes in two combinations, A1-A2 or A2-B1, and has three parts: Speaking, Listening, then Reading and writing. Oral and written skills each get their own level. This app trains you for each of the three parts, in the test's format. You practise in the language of your test: French or German, your choice, and you can change it at any time in the settings. The interface is available in English, French, German and Arabic. WHAT THE APP CONTAINS, FOR EACH TEST LANGUAGE ▸ Listening: 180 items, 60 per level, in sets of 6 questions as in the test. At A1 and A2 you pick the right picture out of three. At B1 you write your answer, then compare it with a model answer. ▸ Reading and writing: 30 full tests of 6 tasks, 15 per combination, with a 60-minute timer. The result gives your points out of 48 (A1-A2) or 59 (A2-B1) and the level matching the published thresholds. ▸ Speaking: 64 topics, 32 at A1-A2 and 32 at B1. The examiner's questions, a recording of your own voice to listen back to, a model answer and a self-assessment checklist. ▸ 586 vocabulary cards on everyday life in Switzerland, with definition, example and pronunciation. ▸ 1,638 recordings per test language in synthetic Swiss voices, playable with no internet connection. ▸ 440 drawings made for the app. ▸ A 14-sheet guide to the fide test: how it runs, the level each procedure requires, registration, results, language passport. ▸ Review of missed questions and weak themes in Listening A1 and A2. WHICH LEVEL FOR WHICH PROCEDURE The required level is not the same for oral and written skills. For naturalisation the minimum is B1 oral and A2 written, and some cantons ask for more. For a C permit it is A2 oral and A1 written. Always check with your canton. PART OF THE APP IS FREE Part of the exercises is free. The rest opens with the Prépa fide Premium subscription. The people and situations in the exercises are invented for practice. They are not fide test papers. The app's results are a practice indication: they say nothing about the level you will get in the test.
