Reads the serial on any dollar bill: star notes, fancy serials, real print runs
SerialHunt is a banknote scanner and identifier for US paper money that reads the serial number printed on the bill and tells you, in about a second, whether the note is worth keeping. A star note or an unusual serial can be worth far more than its face value. It looks like ordinary money, so it gets spent. Point the camera at a dollar bill and SerialHunt flags the keepers: star notes, fancy serial numbers and notes from small print runs. IT READS THE NOTE, IT DOES NOT GUESS A US note prints what matters about itself: the serial number, the series, the Federal Reserve district and the star. SerialHunt reads that text and works from it. It never tries to recognize your bill from a photograph, which is how photo-based money identifier apps end up calling a ten a twenty, or a star note a movie prop. SWEEP A WHOLE STACK Hold the phone over a bank strap, a till or a change jar. Every note gets a verdict and a running tally, so a stack takes minutes instead of an evening. Can't scan a note? Type the serial in and get the same reading. That makes it a serial number checker as well as a bill scanner. 17 FANCY SERIAL PATTERNS, WITH EXACT ODDS Radar, repeater, ladder, solid, binary, low serial, birthday and more. Each pattern shows how often it actually occurs, counted across all one hundred million possible serials. These are exact counts, not estimates. STAR NOTE LOOKUP FROM GOVERNMENT PRINT FIGURES Star notes replace sheets spoiled during printing, and what makes one worth keeping is the size of the run it came from. SerialHunt carries 18,355 printed star note stretches across 2,511 print runs, Series 1963 onward, from Bureau of Engraving and Printing production figures. A star note gets a real number instead of a shrug. Because every printed stretch is stored separately, the app can tell you a serial was never printed at all, rather than simply failing to find it. A COLLECTION THAT ADDS UP Save what you find, grade each note yourself on the standard scale from Poor to Uncirculated, and search everything you have kept by serial, series, district or pattern. Face value totals are arithmetic on the notes themselves, so they are always right. NO PRICES, ON PURPOSE No price guide for US paper money can be licensed, so any dollar value shown here would be invented. You get what was printed instead, which is what a dealer or an auction record needs from you. SerialHunt also makes no claim about whether a note is genuine. FREE AND PAID Free: reading any note by camera or by typing, all 17 patterns with their odds, and the full decode of denomination, series, district and star. One-time unlock, no subscription: print run sizes and rarity for every star note, the never-printed check, and the collection. ON YOUR PHONE Reading happens on the device, and camera images never leave it. The production figures ship inside the app, so it works in a bank queue with no signal, and it downloads updated figures when they are published. No account, no ads. US paper money only. Every part of SerialHunt is built on US Federal Reserve production data, district letters and serial formats.
