Dim your screen darker than the lowest brightness – for comfortable night use
Night mode makes your screen darker than your phone's lowest brightness setting, so you can read, scroll and text in a dark room without the glare. Android's brightness slider stops at a level that is still too bright at night. Night mode adds a soft, adjustable dark layer over everything on your screen – apps, videos, games and the home screen – and lets you choose exactly how dark it gets. Subscriptions can be cancelled anytime in Google Play. ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE (optional) Night mode uses Android's AccessibilityService API. It stays off until you choose to turn it on, and the app explains it and asks for your consent first. With it on, Night mode: • Dims the status bar, notification shade, keyboard and lock screen, which a normal screen overlay can't cover. • Emergency off (if you turn it on): detects Volume Up + Volume Down pressed together, so you can switch dimming off instantly. • Per-app profiles (if you turn them on): reads which app is in the foreground, to apply that app's dimming level. • Auto-Dim (if you turn it on): takes screenshots only to measure how bright the screen is and adjust dimming. Each one is reduced to a single brightness number on your phone and discarded immediately. Night mode does not read text on your screen, does not control other apps, and never stores, sends or shares any data from this service. You can turn it off at any time in Android Settings > Accessibility. PERMISSIONS • Display over other apps – required, to draw the dimming layer • Notifications – for the dimming controls in your notification shade • Accessibility – optional, explained above PRIVACY Night mode collects no personal data. There is no account, no analytics and no ads. Your settings stay on your phone, and uninstalling removes everything. Purchases are handled by Google Play. Night mode is a screen dimmer and night light for anyone who uses their phone in bed, in a dark room, at the cinema or next to someone who is sleeping. It is not a medical device.
