until recently, this was good. now it crashes as soon as I start browsing project files. that makes the app completely useless. I give 2 stars because once upon a time it worked well.

Does not work, I've tried making like 4 new tokens, nothing.

It has been fixed with 2.8.0, thanks for reporting
can't get it to accept my token. copy and pasted, 3 diff atempts ar brand new tokens, app says invalid. I'm not an idiot, this is just an awful way to log in.

Does not recognise my valid Gitlab personal access token and keeps saying it is invalid. Can't login at all.

It requires a login (or token), even though I only want to keep up-to-date with public projects.
