great app to check which light source is best
Developer reply
Thank you, Vivek! I’m glad Flicker Meter helps you compare light sources and to pick the best ones.
This app is great for measuring one of the most important aspects of light, yet it's overlooked by the majority of people. I have a professional tool to measure flickering, but it's not always with me and when I visit my friends houses or restaurants, I check light flickering with this app.

Thanks so much for this review! Light flicker really is underappreciated as a health and comfort factor. Really glad Flicker Meter can serve as your on-the-go companion even when your professional tool isn't around!
Does what it says!

Easy enough to get started and get the flicker %. Can't say I've assessed for accuracy... But it's good enough for my purposes (seeing if the lights have big swing/ flicker to check if the lights are setting off my autistic toddler).

Hi David, thank you for the 5-star review! I'm touched to hear Flicker Meter is helpful in checking the lighting for your toddler and creating a comfortable space. Thank you so much for sharing!
It's not scientifically accurate, but it really worked for me. The camera app cancels out flicker automatically, so it was nice to see the picture without that. The paywall can be closed, you can use the app for free. I have a quite good camera, not sure if it works on cheap/old phones. I changed some light bulbs, thanks!
Developer reply
Thanks Dávid! Really glad it helped you identify and replace problematic light bulbs. Thanks for sharing! Also feel free to contact me directly.
app is unusable without paying $7
Developer reply
Sorry about that. Flicker Meter is free to use for a few weeks (tap close on the paywall), after which a subscription or one-time purchase is required. Even an indie developer needs to make a living. If you didn't have enough time, I can prolong your test period - reach out at apps@contechity.com
it works great for my biological luminous experiment..
Developer reply
Thanks, Paul — I’m really glad Flicker Meter is useful for your biological experiment! Thank you for sharing!
always see one of the 2 error: too dark or to bright to realible measurement 🤷 and scale shows 98% flickering, whst the hell is that 98%? ehat should be a number of frequency, eg 60/sec
Developer reply
Hi Sebestyén! Sorry for the confusion. Those two messages are warnings, not errors - it might still work OK. The 98% represents the flicker percentage (relative depth). To show frequency in Hz, tap the lower gauge and calibrate for your device. Also feel free to contact me directly for further assistance at apps@contechity.com. Thank you!
Great app, this has identified lights and TVs with excessive flicker. These are now in the process of being replaced which hopefully will help with my migraines! Thank you.
Developer reply
Dale, so glad the app helped you track down the problematic lights and TVs! I genuinely hope it makes a real difference for you. Thanks for sharing this — it means a lot to hear!
stopped working after some time
Developer reply
The app is free to try for a few weeks. If you enjoy it, a subscription or one-time purchase keeps it going. Need more trial time? I'd love to help — just reach out at apps@contechity.com and I'll sort it out for you!
